Kittens refusing to eat

Kittens are 7 months old, and vet advised us to move to normal cat food, not kitten food as they have both been neutered.

I had been feeding them whiskas pouches, but bought a tin to try them as they are easier to recycle. Kittens were happy with the first tin, so bought them more and now they are refusing to eat it. They are hungry and meowing and asking for food, but won't eat the tinned whiskas.

Any advice as to what I should do and whether I should be firm with them or go back to pouches.

They are def hungry as they wolf down any treats!

Obey them.
Give them everything they prefer!

I am slightly worried I have made a rod for my own back as this weekend they have had organic chicken breast my toddlers didn't touch, and home baked ham, plus some salmon. It's not a suprise they don't want tinned food Confused

Sounds like they don't like whiskas. I have 3 cats and they all prefer different things! So I can put down a couple of pouches and it will generally get eaten by one or another.
Food which is higher in protein will keep them satisfied longer - hence their understandable preference for real meat! One of my cats really doesn't like wet cat food much and I feed her a good quality biscuit and fish or meat. Cheap frozen fish simply cooked in water goes down a storm.
Get maybe two brands other than whiskas and try them. Don't chop and change too much, cats like variety but will usually settle on a few favourites.
Mine generally prefer fishy flavoured wet food but poultry dry food!

Cats are fickle buggers at the best of times. You’re probably going to have to try them on some new food.

I frequently have this argument with my fussy eater child, who is constantly giving the cat the "wrong" food and then complaining that the cat is whinging for more. "He'll eat when he's hungry" is especially annoying when it comes from a child who will only eat with a certain fork and if his food isn't touching and then only from a very limited range of approved foods and brands Hmm

Basically, whatever you've just bulk bought isn't going to cut it. They are training you. All you can do is bulk buy something else, so that they have something else to run their noses up, and then offer the first bulk buy/previously acceptable food as an alternative. If they are tough little buggers (or consider you really need to be kept on your toes) you might need to buy three or more samples of foods for them to try and eat enthusiastically until you bulk buy them.

Never bulk buy too much. That will guarantee them going off that food...

If you’ve brought tins with cat food in jelly, try tins with cat food in gravy, or vice versa. My cats prefer sachets but like you I’ve switched to tins because they’re recyclable (and cheaper!) and they’ve reluctantly accepted them.
