What do you feed?

New rescue been here 6 weeks, the rescue fed her on Whiskers (wet and dry) which she eats no problem...

However (because the feral on another thread turned his nose up at it) I'm overthinking what is best to feed her ... (and maybe Whiskers is not the best?)

Ex's cats were on Felix AGAIL, but I know a lot of cats had upset tummies as they switched ingredients... and then there were issues with Aplaws (sorry unsure of spelling)

She's a timid little indoor cat, just under 3years old. Just want the best for her 🙂

One tin of gourmet a day in 4 meals and Arden grange biscuits.

We used to feed raw, found Luna&Me to be best for convenience.

Some of the brands on zooplus are really good, bozita, animonda, there's a few others I can't remember the names of.

However we now feed a mix of Republic of cats (purina gold), lidl and sainsburys canned, and sainsburys pouches.

Republic of cats have an offer on you get 28 meals for £5. just tell them you have 4 cats, they're all 5kg and you want them to gain weight Grin then you get the most cans.

ps our cat eats mountains of food, he is just over a year old, quite big but very lean, and very active. he eats approx 400g of wet food per day. he would eat more if we let him though! also supplements that with mice and voles and entire rabbits in the spring Shock

Our cat is very fussy and gets bored easily. I buy a variety of different small bags (300-400g) from zoo plus and she has about 4 open a time and gets different scoops in rotation. We've tried lots of different pouches (some expensive ones too) but the one she consistently eats is Whiskas, especially poultry in gravy pouches.

Particular faves in terms of crunchies are James Wellbeloved, Wild Freedom, Feringa, Royal Canin and Purina

ElephantOfRisk · 10/09/2021 20:56

Should add that the pouches are generally high meat content so I'm happy if the pouches aren't particularly as it's more about the variety in her diet and the moist meal and she'll be getting most of her nutrition from higher quality dry food.

Raw food diet, usually the powder and watcher with chunks of chicken or beef. Also mixed at night to it he gets some of the dogs food which is cooked chicken mince, vegetables and rice with rosemary and ginger.

Hi Life pouch for breakfast then Arden Grange dry

I probably feed mine the equivalent of junk food. Felix as good as it looks (one pouch over 2 meals) and go cat biscuits available all day. It’s what he’s always eaten over the last 12 years. I’m quite lucky I don’t have one of the fussy ones!

AmandaHugenkiss · 11/09/2021 18:17

The old sadly passed DCat got Canagan biscuits which he picked at, and Sheba gravy pouches which were the only wet food he’d eat; tried him on all the fancy ones and he refused them all 😂

The recently adopted DCat eats Iams currently but the vet thinks his tummy is sensitive to it so I’m transitioning over to Orijen to see if it helps. If not then she has a specialist one she says I can try 🤞🏻
