Dry food recommendations please

I'd like to see if I can switch our cats to mostly dry food. They are 5 months old. I have struggled owning them more than I thought I would. They are lovely cats but I hate all the extra cleaning and smells.
I know they may not take to it so don't want to buy in bulk. And I want to give them good quality food. Can anyone recommend? Thanks

My two are on Arden Grange. They came to me on Whiskas and I put a bit of both down at first to see how the would react and they willed it down so quickly took away the Whiskas

I could see the difference in a few days to their smell and poo

Brilliant, thanks

I use Hills and I have done for all my cats over the years and none of them developed the fuss over it.

Thanks. I am tempted to try Scrumbles after reading a good review.

Mine have Iams vitality. My two wouldn't eat scrumbles. I couldn't work out why, until someone on here suggested that the kibble is too small.

Happy Cat & Feringa are both excellent & grain free. Latter you can only get from ZooPlus; & former I used to get from there but it’s now trickier to find…

Royal canin dry cat food from the vets. I've got one cat and a 3.5kg bag lasts ages, much cheaper than pouches and no smell or flies in the kitchen.

Scrambles are tiny. I bought some to try when I couldn't get hold of encore. I mix it with thrive dry and they do eat it when the bigger pieces of thrive have gone

I have senior Iams for D elderly cat and our 2 new kittens are on Wellbeloved. Would recommend both

I buy Harringtons.

Hills

Snailhaterz2 · 30/08/2021 19:28

James Wellbeloved for me! I mix in the dental care one (really large, so cats have to chew, which is good for their teeth) with another one. My 4 year old cat started on mixed wet and dry, and now only has JW.

Thrive is the best dry food on the market. I alternate between the 3 flavours and get it in Amazon. 90% meat. A lot of dry food is full of rubbish.
My boys have always loved it. Scrumbles is okay to put into your rotation. It's always good to alternate a little bit to make sure they're getting a wide range of nutrients.
I would encourage you not to get rid of the wet completely as cats get a lot of their hydration from their food Smile

Mine have disgusting poos so I give them Scrumbles as it has prebiotics in it, they enjoy it

AmandaHugenkiss · 04/09/2021 17:04

My last one had Canagan game, and loved it. The current one is on Iams vitality but I’m not sure it isn’t giving him tummy issues (other thread) so I’ve just started introducing Orijen after a colleague kindly giving me a sample. He’s woofed the small amount of that I gave him this evening in preference to his normal portion of Iams, which is a good sign.

I’ve recently starting giving Toots meowing heads and she seems to really like them

Pudmyboy · 04/09/2021 19:41

I tried mine on the poshest ones I could find in Waitrose, highest meat content, low grain (eg Meowing Heads, Crave.). Little bugger ignored the dried stuff and threw up the wet stuff. Will only eat Purina One. Plus his human's chicken or ham.

At 5 months I'd give them dry kitten food, it's smaller in size and designed for growing active bodies.
Ours had the Hills dry kitten food. As adults they seem to prefer Royal Canin though.
