Devastated!

I have 2 cats from the same litter, brother and sister. They are 11.5 years old and I've had them since they were 6 weeks.

Had the vet in today, just to cut their nail. She gave them a quick examination whilst here and I was told that my boy has a massive tumour in his stomach which is spreading across his liver 😳 she was only 5 months ago and there was no sign of it then.

He's eating, using his litter tray, playing... doing everything he usually does. No signs of being ill whatsoever (with the exception of losing a bit of weight).

I am absolutely heartbroken 💔 going to start him on steroid injections to reduce inflammation and make him more comfortable. I keep reading that most cats with abdominal tumours die within 1-2 months of diagnosis and I just can't get my head around it! I'm in complete shock and so upset 😭

I’m so so sorry. We had a cat with similar. We didn’t find out until he started showing signs. We were given various options. Did steroids but also a very low dose chemo. Gave him longer and kept him happier. Make the most of the time you have left. Flowers

That’s awful, they hide it so well too you would never know.

So sorry this has happened to your little cat. A similar thing happened to my young cat. She was having difficulty jumping up and just wasn't herself. I had her checked at the vet and she had a massive growth on her lungs, preventing her from breathing. Nothing could be done for her. It happened very quicklyFlowers

So sorry. This happened to my DP’s guide dog. He was well the night before, then lethargic the next morning, unable to get up by the evening and an ultrasound showed that he had a tumour and it had ruptured. We had no idea.

There was nothing that could be done and he was PTS that night 😭

My cat had this, he was at the vets the week before and they never picked it up but a week later they did. They gave him a month, had steroid tablets which were a nightmare. He lasted 18 further months and a newly qualified get told me he could have a monthly injection of steroid rather than the stress of the tablets. He was happy until the last day, he faded away slowly but still enjoyed his life. Give him lots of love and enjoy him. Flowers
