Let us speak of vomit

Dcat is throwing up immediately after virtually every meal. It is the same brand food he's always had.

He's 14, we have tried raising the height of his bowl, but it hasn't helped.

Any ideas or suggestions welcome.

Time for a vet visit. Hope it’s something the vet can help with.

iloveredwine · 24/08/2021 12:24

Its not Felix is it?

TonTonMacoute · 24/08/2021 12:29

@iloveredwine

Yes, it is Felix. He has always eaten though.

He has visited the vet recently for a check up and this was mentioned. They couldn't find anything wrong.

Does he have access to grass? It helps their digestion. Mine needs grass everyday and, of course, she spews on the carpet, not the tiles or wooden floors.

Does he eat his food really quickly? Maybe give him small amounts, that'll be easier to digest. Dry food swells in the tummy & wet food can be easier to digest.

He might have a gastric problem?

I'm in a group on Facebook cats recently affected by felix. There seems to be a real problem since they have changed the recipe to colour free. The ones with green circles on box

BikeRunSki · 24/08/2021 12:42

Purina have recently changed the recipe for Felix As Good As It Looks, and some other products. Lots of cats have become unwell as a result. Lots of distrust in Purina. Purina saying there nothing wrong, but this FB group seems to disagree.

My moggy is on standard Felix. Seems ok, but I buoy buy, and I think I have a old batch.

Thank you all.

He has plenty of grass available and we do see him eating it. Since this started we have been giving him smaller meals but more often. So it's really looking like the food is to blame.

Time to switch brands I think.

Our cat was excessively vomiting and eventually had bloods and it turned out to be a thyroid issue.

TonTonMacoute · 25/08/2021 09:33

A quick update.

We fed him a pouch of Meowing Heads yesterday over two meals, and he had half a pouch of Blink this morning.

No vomit!

It does look as though the Felix is to blame. Many thanks for the tip off, I hadn't heard about the problems before, they have been very good at keeping it under wraps.

I have never known a cat as sick as Cheddar. I had no idea a small cat could produce so much sick and I'm a nurse! She has improved massively since swapping her to Iams vitality. It's one from several times daily. To 3 times in 24 hours about every 4-6 weeks.

Cleanmean · 25/08/2021 17:06

I've switched our new rescue cat from Felix to iams and Sheba as he was also being sick and had the runs. A week on and he's improved massively. I'll never buy felix again or any purina products.
