Clumping cat litter

Where can I buy clumping cat litter?

I used to buy the cat litter from Lidl, it was cheap and it was clumping. It has now been discontinued and every litter I look at in other shops say nothing about it being clumping. Why is it so hard to find clumping cat litter? And what the hell is the point in non-clumping cat litter?

Or has anyone found litter that does clump but for some reason just isn’t mentioned on the bag?

I've bought it from Sainsbury's, Aldi and Waitrose before. I now get it delivered from Zooplus.

World’s Best from Amazon or ZooPlus

I used to use Cats Best which is clumping

Actually I dont know if anyone has any advice but I saw recently someone say clumping shouldn't be used for kittens as if they swallow it etc...

BeefSupreme · 10/08/2021 14:10

I shouldn’t have called non-clumping pointless. Different litters work for different cats. I was just a little bit annoyed that Aldi discontinued their clumping last year and now Lidl have done the same. It seems there’s no affordable clumping cat litter out there. Our circumstances have changed since we got the cats and all these suggestions are expensive. Thanks anyway

How do the wood pellets work? Does the whole tray need emptied after each use?

Tesco still does a cheapish clumping, although stock is sporadic at ours. We get that or from Pets At Home which is more reliable but costs a touch more.

B & M have clumping cat litter

Costco sell clumping litter and it's not as dusty as many.

Wood pellet is environmentally friendly and stops smells effectively. I use it exclusively. Pick up poos as soon as I can and the wee gets absorbed. I change it completely every 5-7 days depending on which tray they have been using more frequently. It's easy to tell when it needs changing as it starts to whiff slightly and around half the pellets have disintegrated into smaller pieces.

Cerebelle · 10/08/2021 14:31

I get it in B&M. £5.99 for 30 litres which will last two large trays around 3 weeks or so.

I use Intersand, it is not cheap but it last ages. If you're meticulous with scooping it can go weeks before needing a full tray change.

I use this one, very good, scoop every day (sometimes twice a day depending how many times they go) and it can last 2-3 weeks with the odd top up: www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_litter/cats_best/14001

Cat's best litter at zooplus is fantastic litter and amazing value for money. It may look more expensive to begin with, but I only change the litter every few months. If you put plenty in to begin with and remove clumps daily it stays clean and fresh for a very long time.

With wood you obviously remove poos the the wee turns to sawdust

You can get shifting pans that either let the sawdust fall through...as in there is a pan then a sifter (like a seive) and the pellets go on the sifter so when wet it falls through

Though I would recommend getting a garden seive, hold over the wheelie bin and empty the contents into the seive. You will be left with the solid pellets that you can re-use
