So, I was at home yesterday and Ashycat, who is elderly and not very well* was out in the garden. Now, overnight something had unbelievable diarrhea on the garden path. It attracted the flies like nobody's business, so there I was with brush, bucket and water getting rid of it. Done and I expected the flies to go away.
As Ashycat is so ill, I let her laze in the sun as much as she likes - if it makes her feel a bit better, who am I to stop her.
Went to put washing out later and there were flies on Ashycat. Waved them away several times, but they would not leave and go to find a poo pile elsewhere. Then I saw a couple come out from under her tail, with an attitude like they were doing their trousers up (they were female, but it reminded me of men coming out of the loo making sure their zips were done up). I didn't like what I was seeing
Took Ashycat in and had a look round her bottom. There was a little bit of poo and OMYGOD loads and loads of fly eggs. It took me a good hour with a nit comb and wet wipes to make sure they were all out. Had another look before I went to bed and again this morning. I might have found a couple more, but they were dessicated and may have beeen dandruff.
So elderly cat owners, keep a close on what the flies are doing. Madam will get her tail checked every time she spends time in the garden.
*vet visit on Saturday was "keep on with the meds and we'll see how she does. It's not looking good.
