After he was missing for a couple of days we got him back and he had been visiting them for over two weeks Shock. They thought they better feed him which is why he didn't come home. We kept him in for two days and nights and as soon as he'd had breakfast he was off to theirs Sad. He's still there. Hasn't been home for tea. They think he is lovely. Don't want to keep him. What do we do? Dh says we can't keep going to get him but tbh I will tomorrow if he isn't home. He was crying to go out and it was upsetting. He's never done this before, he has come home late for food but never stayed away for four meals. Their food is nicer than ours but he's been ours for eight years plus Sad.

@SunshineCake found you! Do they have any other pets. If not, it might be he just prefers singledom rather than having sibling cats. The little minx! I don’t have any advice other than issuing an ASBO and I don’t blame you for bringing him back each time he absconds.

Look what popped up @SunshineCake … pesky algorithms!

Had they let him in again OP when you went to get him?

They could be doing a lot to prevent this so I'd be pretty annoyed. After all, you can't keep him in for veer

Hi @TheRealHousewife. We do have other pets but the youngest moved in over three years ago and he loves her. I think he just went off exploring, happened upon this house with their two cats, they've given him attention as he's very cute and cheeky and then they've fed him!

To be fair @Polmuggle they've agreed to not feed him, not let him in the house and not be too welcoming. The man of the house will find that very hard as they say they love him too.

Does anyone know if there's an optimum time that we need to keep him in? Last time he came home at teatime, was kept in for two nights, let out and was at their house by 10am! He didn't come home for tea or breakfast, they didn't feed him and I picked him up late morning today.

I don't think keeping him in will make any difference unless it's moths tbh.

I would keep him as an indoor cat for a while. Play with him everyday to rebuild that relationship.

This post is over a year old.
