Cat and mouse

Is it normal to get mice in even when you have a cat?? I seem to get them all the time (once a week) despite having a cat, everyone says they are a good deterrent (didn’t get her for the reason) but we still get them, she kills them but they don’t stop coming in.

If she’s anything like ours, she’s bringing them in then dropping them in the house…

I can’t work out if she is bringing them in or not as she always just appears with one!

Ours usually kill outside, but it isn't unknown for them to come in and then drop a live mouse inside the house...

Dd's cats bring small creatures home as gifts for the family. I observed one triumphant hunter bringing in a dead mouse and laying it right in front of the television, on a low table where it couldn't be overlooked. I was suitably impressed. I've never caught a mouse and carried it home in my mouth.

I am, however, appreciated for my skill in opening packets of Felix.

My sorry is if she has one then kicks it under the sofa or something and we don't know it's there for a while 😖 she usually kills them then eats half of them so it's grim having to clean it away.

Mostly we get dead ones (like the one I stepped on this morning on the way to the loo) but occasionally live and then all hell breaks loose as the cat refuses to help us catch it ("I brought it, it's yours now mum") and we run around trying to barricade corridors and rooms and swearing at the cat.
