Advice requested - Anyone got a cat with recurrent cystitis?

My 3 year old cat gets cystitis every few months and the vet says it's stress related (ie nothing physically wrong with her to cause it), although there is nothing obvious to stress her out.The nutracys/metacam meds sort her out then it happens again.

Has anyone got any suggestions to help please? She is on urinary dried cat food (won't eat wet food but has a lick e lix daily to hide her meds).

She is a siamese, mainly indoor for her own safety (allowed out only under supervision in the garden) playful and sociable and we rarely leave her alone.

I am so sad to see her bleeding. There is no other sign of distress- she is her usual friendly self, not going to the toilet anywhere other than her litter tray. We use feliway when she's ill...any advice or suggestions welcome!

Mine has the odd bout of cystitis - again stress (usually the local fox hanging out in the garden!) and the best thing I’ve found is cystease capsules - I hide them in her lick e Lix. Its horrible to see them uncomfortable Sad

My wee girl just had cystitis there. Im hoping it's not going to be reoccurring but like a PP cat she is now on Cystease and it seems to be doing the trick.

Our cat has cystaid daily in lick e Lix and no dry food at all.

Will your cat tolerate warm water on the dry food to soften it?

Hi my lovely old cat had cystitis on & off for most of the last year of her life. She had other health issues & the vet suspected the cystitis was a result of other treatment she was having. Anyway she was on cystaid capsules (that I opened & put on her food) which really helped.

Thanks for the replies.
She won't eat her biscuits if they aren't dry- typical Siamese fussy eater. Does wetting them make a difference in helping reduce cystitus? (Will try again if so!)..She drinks water from her fountain.

I am interested that none of you have been given nutracys by your vet for your cat- anyone know the difference between this and the other meds (eg cystease etc) available? (will maybe try one of the others..)..
