Pet insurance

My cat was in a fight with another cat from which he definitely came off the worst !

I took him to the vet and he needed antibiotics and pain relief, with the follow up visit it came to around £175.00.

The excess on my pet insurance is £99.00, so I'm only looking at a reclaim of £76.00. Whilst I think this is what the insurance is for, does anyone know if this has any implications going forward? Will it increase next years policy by more than I will be claiming or lead to any exclusions in the future.
Trying to decide if it's worth claiming for this value just leaving it.

Thanks

By rights, you should still inform the insurance even if you don't claim, so it might be worth calling them up and asking their advice?

I had this with a guinea pig (not the fighting part, but he needed relatively low cost treatment), the insurance peeps said not worth claiming but they would make a note in case of any follow-up work needed. No increase in the premium, and it meant that any follow up would be covered (the vet would have noted that they had previously treated him for X, Y & Z).

Hope that makes sense!

@OriginalTaste Thanks. I hadn't thought of it from that angle, but makes a lot of sense. I'll just put in the claim so it's all logged
