Do you have a 'trouble cat'?

My old boy Rafa was constantly getting into trouble; playing with snakes and getting stuck on other people's balconies were his favourite hobbies. He was a very gregarious cat and saw no problem with sauntering into other homes and making himself comfortable - I would often receive photos from neighbours (thankfully all cat-lovers) of him all comfy on their bed/favourite chair Hmm

Kloppy is even worse, literally no sense of boundaries - he just assumes that everyone loves him. He's always on the look out for his next challenge, I can see his little brain ticking over. He got trapped in my neighbour's studio for 24 hours a few months ago and yesterday morning went balcony-surfing at 7.30am as I was about to leave for work Hmm He was outside, unscathed when I got home at 5pm so he either jumped off a two-storey balcony or a neighbour found him in her house and turfed him out Grin

I have an Idiotcat....he thinks that everyone is his friend and makes himself at home. He particularly likes next door but one and really likes it when she opens up her summerhouse and it lords it about her garden like he owns the joint!

He also likes to patrol the driveway and road....probably 9 times out of 10 if a car is stopped out there it will be because he is being an asshat and blocking their way. How he has not been flattened I don't know. He also enjoys getting into open vans. I always check vans if they have been unattended with the doors open cos chances are he has got in there.

yeOldeTrout · 03/07/2021 14:13

I have one who also flops in front of moving cars, sigh

5am Today he was on narrow ledge outside, blocking me from opening the window (1st floor) that he wanted me to open to let him in. Meowing loudly. Sigh. We didn't have to get a ladder out, eventually he went forward, then I could open window & he could reverse in.

Desert cat thinks everyone loves him - he swans everywhere with supreme confidence.

Unfortunately my neighbour thinks he is a territorial evil bastard who is about to start spraying in her house and beating up her cats. Doesn't matter how many times I tell her that he doesn't actually care about her cats and is just entitled it is not sinking in.

He is a street rescue from Dubai where apparently cats wander about and get people to feed/adopt them and he just doesn't seem to have cottoned on that UK people aren't going to fall at his feet in such an adoring manner.

purrswhileheeats · 03/07/2021 14:17

Shock oh that's worrying! My female dcats are quite skittish and timid which I prefer - no chance of them wandering into a random open van!

Hope idiotcat is enjoying his lovely summer cabin 😹

It's too hot today for troublesomeness so Kloppy is relaxing 😺

I have a ‘brave’ cat. She will sit at the window and hiss and angrily swish her tail at swans and ducks. But point blank refuses to actually go outside….

ivfgottwins · 03/07/2021 14:52

It's always the tabby cats! My "problem" isn't friendly to anyone else but he's is fiercely loyal and protective of us and our home his territory - I regularly see him chasing off dogs of various sizes as well foxes. He's neutered so there really
Is no excuse for it 🤣

Poor Desert cat! Mine are all rescues too (Cyprus) and got used to kind people feeding them. When I found Kloppy at the charity shop he was being fed lamb kleftiko leftovers Shock

My old lady was 'brave' too. She bullied terrorised my other dcats for years but ran a mile when another cat so much as looked at her. She also HATED my mother and would regularly attack her when she stayed with me. I was with the cat on that one though Wink

@Bargebill19 Silkycat is in the spirit of your 'brave cat'

Every morning she has a long chat to the birds from our window. But chat is as far as it has ever gone. I think she may have caught a fly once.

She is however the boss of Desert cat despite being half his size. And woe betide any neighbourhood cat who sits on her patio.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/07/2021 16:13

Cats are very good judges of character.

Faranth · 03/07/2021 16:20

When I was a kid the fruit and veg delivery driver had to turn round and come back as 2 miles down the road our cat started yelling from the back of his van. When he opened up the door TwatCat was sat in the mushrooms Hmm

TwatCat was also massive, over a metre long when he stretched out, and once jumped off the top of the wardrobe into DFs chest in the middle of the night. Perhaps he thought he needed CPR?

We're rehoming a cat who is arriving today - I'm hoping he'll be lots of trouble Grin

MrsMoastyToasty · 03/07/2021 16:25

Toasty Girl Cat is also Guardian of Humans, Patroller of Boundaries and Senior School Mouser.

The first title relates to her coming on walks with any member of the family. She is partial to a walk to the letterbox; will wait until you have deposited your mail in the box and then accompanies you home safely.
She also likes to sit on the front wall at the end of the drive and keep the local children out of HER garden.
Finally she has gained the title of Senior School Mouser by keeping the rodent population at the school that adjoins our garden free of vermin. Probably saved them thousands of pounds in pest control charges.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 03/07/2021 17:15

One of mine (now deceased!) used to like to take flying leaps onto the bed and onto dh...he was also a giant great ginger thing, I used to tell people he was a Norwegian Forest Cat he was so big.
I nearly died laughing when I had to unfold dh who had folded in half like a broken deckchair after one of the cats leaps
The same cat also trampled up the bed and over dh who moved wrongly, ending up with a paw and claw to the cornea and a week of drops and an eye patch.

Motorina · 03/07/2021 18:32

Years and years ago, my then cat used to sit on the footboard of the bed, uhhhh, watching. Like a strictly judge. One about to give a very low score.

One time she took a flying leap, and landed full force on my then partner’s erect penis.

I miss that cat.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/07/2021 09:51

My three have been fairly well behaved. The trouble they caused was the £22k of vets bills!

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/07/2021 12:23

Other people thought my Bengal boy trouble but he was an adorable little love bug with me.

Silkiecats · 04/07/2021 12:34

Silkiecat decided it would be a great idea to go to sleep inside a carrier bag.

She is terrified of gardens but once got brave and the only time she left the house was via a small window in roof and she walked along the roof and came back pregnant. Shock

Oh and we have glass doors to the garden and she likes to sit there and make eyes at the fox who comes in the garden. He also makes eyes at her.

Oldraver · 05/07/2021 17:18

All we seem to of been saying the last year was ... Whose bloody roof is Colin on now

TourdeTarte · 05/07/2021 17:23

Named after Rafa Benitez I hope?

purrswhileheeats · 05/07/2021 17:35

So many great trouble cat stories (except for Toddler's vets bills 🙀) Loving mushroom cat 🐱

@TourdeTarte yes Rafa Benitez. I've had a Kenny, a Rafa and now a Kloppy Grin
