I will post a photo just in case anyone is interested. I have never had cats before but dh has. They are 11 weeks old. A boy and a girl. Last of a litter of 6 to go. Rescued, mum was a stray. I am excited for my three children.

I have a couple of questions if anyone is able to advise?

  • what do you do with used cat litter? Bin/ compost/ separate bin?
  • what do you do with uneaten wet food?
Do you have separate bins for cat related waste? Both smell so grim! The room the cats are in is far away from the garden at the mo so quite a walk to get outside. Thanks

Black bin. We have clumping litter and I actually put the clumps in a poo bag and tie it up, then put it in the bin

what do you do with uneaten wet food?

Feed it to the dog 🙈

Do you have separate bins for cat related waste?

Nope, normal bin but tbh there's barely any of it anyway.

Normal bin for food

For cat litter bag up in dog waste bags and outside bin Dont compost as cat poop can contain toxoplasmosis.

If your are pregnant get someone else to do litter or wear rubber gloves and wash hands well.

They are so 🥰 cute

For left over food, you can put it out for the birds. Just make sure it's up high on a bird table or similar, or you'll be overrun with local cats & foxes! Not many birds in my area, so it goes in the food waste bin - the local urban foxes TRY to get at it, but can't open the bin if I shut it properly.

Outside bin for litter.

Thank you everyone. They have been so good so far. Slept well and very playful this morning.

The ginger one is going to be trouble. So inquistive and playful already, and trying to catch everything with its claws.

I would sugggest get yourself a Selfi Stick

My DBro has an elderly cat ( probably 15+)

When DS and I catsat we couldn't find her . I was convinced she hadnt got out but not 100%

She was in the bedroom , tiniest gap between a wall/dressing table .
Only DS sweeping round with his phone video showed her ears !

They thrive on routine all animals do . Once they are secure they settle well .
I've never had a kitten just lardy adults . I sometimes feel I've missed out . But then I remind myself theyre jaggy little demons and thank my stars for our disdainful pair Grin

Good idea. We lost the girl again, she is too good at hiding! Found her in the back of the tiniest thin cupboard meant for chopping boards!
