Where else can they put mice??

Girl cat is a prolific mouse hunter. She brings them home for boy cat who likes to play with them until cat dad wakes up and puts them outside.

A lot of them end up under the sink, in a blanket box or under the radiator.

Today's mouse is in the CUTLERY DRAWER.

How has it done it??

Thank God we have clean stuff in the dishwasher so I can avoid that drawer until cat dad gets home.

We've had a dead mouse smell in the hall for a few days. Looked and looked, couldn't find it. Finally DH took everything out to find it. Dead mouse wedged about 18" off the ground between the wall and a walking pole, behind a lot of other sticks/umbrellas.
DSD once spent a whole day at school with something in her shoe which she couldn't be bothered to investigate. Came home removed shoe. Very flat and dry dead shrew.

@Mumdiva99, it's one of those stupid drawer in a drawer drawers (try saying that when you're drunk) that doesn't come out. Girl cat will be asleep all day and boy cat is too stupid to get it, so mousey will be safe until DH gets home and then I can bleach / set fire to the kitchen.

I doubt it will stay in the drawer, it will go out the back of it. We've had live birds bought in and flying around the house a couple of times, that was fun. Live mouse the top of a very high bookcase once(cat was staring up at it and I heard a few noises).The cats I have now seem to have learnt to leave them outside but I seem to be clearing corpses daily at the moment. Them playing with a frog in the grass was a bit surprising, they make a noise like a squeezy toy. Managed to rescue that one.

That's what I thought Flump. I'd rather get it out before it disappears.

My cats found a frog - I rescued it. Then they got it again. But I agree it sounded like a squeaker toy.

I found a bloated one in her water bowl this morning. Maybe she drowned it.

JuneJustRains · 18/06/2021 12:13

I once found one in the Hoover.

Possibly worse was the time the health visitor called after the birth of dc2, and dc1 proudly ran up to her to show her the dead mouse he’d just found.

Her post-birth questionnaire included ‘Do you feel you are coping with your responsibilities as well as before the birth/better/worse?’

I wasn’t sure whether it was better to imply that this was a worrying lapse or that older dc always had access to deceased wildlife!

@Shehasadiamondinthesky you have some kind of mafia boss cat there!

@InpatientGardener

When I was a kid I had a chocolate milkshake before bed, left half of it in a glass by the sink and when my mum chucked it out in the morning there was a dead mouse in there.. presumably brought in courtesy of our cat. Imagine drowning in chocolate milk Sad
My cat no longer does this but at the old house she used to catch mice and drown them in the bucket

Most mornings we would come out to a new mouse floating in a bucket

Poor things

Under the sofa. They reek but you can't see their rotting corpses to figure out what the smell is.

My cat once vomited up an entire frog - whole. It was like something out of The Exorcist. He shuddered and then - surprise a la grenouille!

My old boy used to munch on lizards which was grim in itself. He'd then projectile vom everywhere and if he'd eaten a pregnant female I'd have to clean up green cat sick interspersed with lizard eggs 🤮🤮🤮

@purrswhileheeats - aiiieeee!

I feel my cats are quite boring because they only leave them under the kitchen table.

JorisBonson · 18/06/2021 17:44

We've had one frog in the 2 years we've lived here. DH was away and I have a stupid phobia of them. I had to text the neighborhood watch WhatsApp group and ask someone to come and get it 🙄

Dead mouse in slipper + 6 am start and a 6’ tall Dh in a room with only 5’ head room.

Cue lots of screams, with me giggling uncontrollably at Dh. Cat looked pleased.

Mpsister · 19/06/2021 09:35

My old cat used to drop them into the toilet bowl while they were still alive. The poor things used to swim round in circles

I know, I thought if I adopted a much older cat I wouldn't have wildlife in the house.....I was wrong.
