Cats and windows

I really don't want to get into a debate about keeping a cat in the house, she's DDs cat and she wants her to be a house cat, she gets regular supervised time in the garden and hasn't shown any interest in going any further.

Anyway, my question is has anyone found an effective system for being able to open windows far enough to allow a breeze but not enough to let a cat out? Child locks, mesh screens etc.

DP is obsessive about having windows open at night and it means he's not keen on staying over in warm weather, we'll be moving in together at some point so I need a solution.

Flat cat window screens. Keeps moths out too.

I am also interested in this! We are having window restrictors added in preparation for our kitten arriving in August (I shall add a photo of the restrictor we have on one window so far) but I cannot find any information anywhere as to whether a kitten/cat could get through it!
If anyone here can advise, they might be a solution for you too!

I've looked at restrictors but I'm not convinced she wouldn't be able to squeeze out.

www.flatcats.co.uk/
I've heard these are good but haven't tried them.

I haven't looked through this thread at what others have written but you want Flat Cats. They are brilliant. Had them on our windows for 5+ years and never failed us

Either from amazon at the link I posted above or they do have their own website also www.flatcats.co.uk/

They did originally only do grey mesh but they do white now. I have 2 grey, 2 white. The white is better in my opinion, as it blends in with our white window sills and window frames.

A kitten will definitely be able to get through that gap. Youd be suprised at how small they can make themselves. We "lost" ours behind the kickboards in the kitchen. And they were about 6 months so not teeny tiny. Im afraid i dont have a solution as my windows are tilt and turn so open at the very top. Plus my windows are huge so they cant get up to the top of them.

Another vote for Flatcats. Had them 5 years now - Girlcat did have a serious try at getting through them a few times but failed completely. Have the added bonus of letting the air in but NOT most insects.

I made my own flatcats as they didnt do my size. The stuff is easily available on Amazon

I would go for wide velcro
