What colour is my ragdoll?

Is there anyone who knows ragdolls well and can identify my cat's colouring. We don't have papers for her and the breeder told us she was a blue point lynx but I'm not sure as she is very light. She's only 10 weeks old so I know she will get darker as she gets older. I've added a few pictures and would be interested to know. Thank you!

I don't care I'm too entranced with those blue eyes.

Actually if you hand her over I might be able to get back to you in, say 10 years time?

Wolfiefan · 17/06/2021 10:54

Why didn’t you get papers OP? They would say.

BelleClapper · 17/06/2021 10:54

I can’t tell from the photo. You’ll have to drop her off at mine.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 17/06/2021 10:56

You just wanted to post pictures of your beautiful adorable kitten! Which is fine by me.

cricketmum84 · 17/06/2021 10:57

Yeah I think you will need to bring her round here for me to make an accurate decision on colour. It's going to take at least an hour of cuddles to decide.

She is beautiful whatever colour she is!

I would go for blue point but I would need to see her in person.

Have I dropped enough hints yet???

We bought her from an unregistered breeder. I know this is really frowned upon but the breeder seemed to be doing all the right things (she came vaccinated, microchipped, vet checked, the parents had been tested for genetic diseases etc.) But she was using an unactive cat to breed so the kittens can't be registered.

And yes, she is absolutely adorable and we are so in love. She's settled in so well.

She's gorgeous! I'd probably describe her as lilac point rather than blue, but that might change as she gets older.

WaltzingToWalsingham · 17/06/2021 12:04

...although, looking more closely, her tail does look blue but her mask is closer to lilac (in my view). I wonder what colour she will end up!

Soubriquet · 17/06/2021 12:09

I would say she’s definitely a lynx point but i wouldn’t be 100% in colour. She does look blue though so I would agree she was a blue point lynx

On the other hand, she could just me mine Grin

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 17/06/2021 12:09

Lilac point ?

SnuggleWuggle · 17/06/2021 12:10

Blue or lilac lynx?

Madwife123 · 22/07/2021 00:27

I’m a Ragdoll breeder, she’s a blue tabby point. (Lynx is the American term, in the U.K. they are registered as blue tabby).

If you didn’t get papers she probably also hasn’t been HCM tested. This is big issue in Ragdoll’s and can lead to their death at a very young age. The GCCF (the company that registers pedigree cats in the U.K.) won’t register kittens from untested Ragdoll’s as a result. You can get this test done yourself, it’s just a mouth swab. I would highly recommend it as the reason she’s not registered could be because they didn’t test the parents or the parents are not suitable for breeding.

Motorina · 23/07/2021 08:54

She’s fluffy! Is fluffy a colour?

roseteathecatsandme · 23/07/2021 10:21

She is absolutely gorgeous whatever she is!

They do go much darker though. Here’s mine at about 7 weeks old -

Nearly 16 weeks now and changing so much! Her face is a lot darker although she still has a very light body. She is the most amazing little cat and we're all so smitten.

To the breeder who mentioned HCM - thank you. Both her parents were tested and are free from the gene.

Oh she is absolutely beautiful!

Have you seen the paperwork for the HCM tests? If not, it's worth doing one yourself. It costs less than £40 through Langfords and would be worth it for peace of mind. We had our 3 year old Bengal put to sleep recently. The HCM had caused a blood clot on her spine that paralysed both back legs. By the time we knew she had it (7 months ago, another blood clot) her heart was very enlarged and the vet said that even with medication we'd be lucky to have a few more months.
