Solensia for arthritic cat, has anyone tried it?

My 14 yr old cat has arthritis mostly in her 2 front legs. They seem to be bowing now too, which is very sad. Last week she tried to jump onto a fence and just didn’t make it which made her limp worse. Today I took her to the vets for her injections and she suggested a new treatment, Solensia. It’s a monthly injection which treats the pain. Has anyone else tried it? Or maybe the dog equivalent Librela? It looks like it will be around £50 a month.

Tryingsohardx so sorry to hear you haven't had a positive experience with Solencia. Woody's back legs started to go. He wobbled and u cld knock him over with a feather. Turned out he was diabetic. He was also drinking lots of water. After abt 3 months of insulin and change of diet he went into remission. Apparently, 15% of cats can go into remission.

FYI--I just found this article today. I hope you can reach it via this link https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/what-killed-their-pets-owners-blame-meds-but-vets-aren-t-sure/ar-BB1lvfuK

The FDA received over 3,800 complaints regarding Liberal and Solensia and the European Medicines Agency received over 12,300 for Liberal and more than 7,700 complaints for Solensia. Liberal is the injection dog's receive. Both drugs are produced by Zoetis.

The article includes owner's comments on the deaths of their dogs and cats.

My girl was started on it last week. Unfortunately, what was diagnosed as arthritis, was probably a tumour. And she had to be PTS unexpectedly. But everything I've heard is that it's a wonder drug.

Our cat had this injection on the vet's recommendation- he used it on his cat and he said the results were amazing. After the first month we went back but there had been no change at all, so he said it wasn't worth continuing. Our cat had no side effects at all

@Buggysleeper solensia was fantastic for my old girl (now sadly gone) and she went from limping to jumping up to the top of the wardrobe in 24 hours. I would never have believed it could be so miraculous but it was. She had stage 2 kidney failure but solensia was safe for her and she had no ill effects from it at all.
As I have had diabetic cats previously (and am a retired nurse) my vet allowed me to give the monthly injections myself at home which saved my very stressy girl the upset of a vet trip. Plus it was cheaper although that wasn’t my primary concern.
My vet charges about £70 if having the injection at the surgery and £55 if just buying the vial to give at home.

My cat, Sam, who is probably about 16 had his first injection 11 days ago. He is currently on Loxicom and Gabapentin for his arthritic hips, but can only tolerate a half dose of Loxicom a day as it tends to upset his tummy and cause diarrhoea. Gabapentin makes him sleepy and very wobbly. The vet suggested Solensia and I jumped at the chance, but I think I was expecting miracles as so far I have seen very little, if any, improvement in his mobility. Maybe it is too soon. My vet was a bit vague on how long before I saw results as it is so new. They charge £60 per injection which would be ok if I could stop the other two drugs, which is what the vet is aiming for eventually. Meanwhile I am feeling slightly concerned that it isn't going to work for Sam. Maybe it will take two doses to see a result.

Just got back from the vet, first dose for my 16 yo furbaby. If it helps, she said they can see some results as early as a week but mostly give it 3 months for real improvement as it needs to build up in their system. I can NOT wait for my Tasha to feel better, so I'm excited!
