I have a lovely little old lady cat who has been with us for 13 years. She was a rescue.

Im coming to the conclusion that we are coming to her time. She's starting to change and I'm seeing change to her cognitive behaviour, eating less, drinking less, waking us up for a chat at 4am. She used to spend lots of time visiting the neighbours and now doesn't leave the house.

Took her to the vets yesterday who asked to run tests but I said no because I don't want her being distressed. The vet thinks she has lymphoma as she felt her abdomen and some other signs that she is exhibiting. At the moment more up days than down days. She's lost 1kg in weight since November. Not in any pain or discomfort that I can see.

Should I get the tests. I'm now doubting myself. I wouldn't get her treatment due to her age.

She's a lovely wee cat and she doesn't look her age. She honestly thinks she's 4. 😂. Running about etc...

I probably wouldn’t, if it is lymphoma the treatment might traumatise her.

If she was 2 I’d say carry on. Hard choice when it’s your little girl though.

I decided no more treatment when my girl got to 20, She's had loads of medical problems all of her life, cost the insurance company a fortune but STILL lived to 20.
When the end came a couple of months ago I knew it was time and it was very quick over the course of the weekend.
It sounds like she still has some good life in her.

Difficult, but I wouldn't.
I'd keep a close eye as I'm sure you are, and then make a decision if she seems to be in pain.

It's hard, but I wouldn't run tests at that age either.

I would let her live out her days in peace (with lots of delicious treats, sunny naps and fuss) and keep an eye on her until it's the right time.

I'm so sorry - it's hard Flowers

Thank you. She has sunny naps and tummy rubs galore. So we will take it a day at a time.
