Do cats need wet food?

New cat is proving to be rather fussy about wet food but hoovers up biscuits with abandon.

She seems to drink plenty of water.

Is there any need for her to have wet food or is a all/mostly dry-food diet equally good?

It's fine as long as the dry food is 'complete' (has correct levels of essential nutrients) which it should tell you on the bag.

Which ones are you using, do they have a decent meat content?

I think if she’s drinking lots dry food is fine (& it’s better for their teeth) Smile

She’s eating Purina One - it doesn’t actually say the word ‘complete’ on the packaging but it does go on about ‘all key nutrients’?

Purina One is fine, and it is complete. It's also the only food my rescue will eat. They fed it to her in the RSPCA and she doesn't do change!

My last cat was pretty much grain free but current girl seems very healthy on the Purina so I'm sticking with it.

My 3 cats only eat dry food (and whatever things they manage to steal out of the kitchen) all have an annual vet check and never been any problems. My 12 year old cat has excellent teeth and vet says its down to the dry food diet, little does the vet know she also manager to eat curry on a regular basis.
