Furminator - any use for short haired cats?

Have read rave reviews for using the tool on long haired cats. But any good on short hairs? Mine doesn't get matted but does shed a lot of fur so wondering whether to invest in a Furminator. Any thoughts?

Mine is ok on my short haired extricate. But I find a slicker brush and a zoom groom
Much more effective. And she prefers that. They are not good on long haired cats as they take off the top coat only. A metal comb is better for them.

A few years ago I used a furminator on my short haired cat, but as the previous poster said a zoom groom is better really - that's what I use now.

Off to check on Zoom Groom. Your comments are appreciated.

I love my Furminator and so do my cats.

I got it when Old Lady Cat basically gave up grooming - it was super effective but even better she loved it.

Silky Cat is also a big fan but we have to limit it to v short sessions as she finds it so stimulating it ends up with my hand being chewed. It is a godsend in shedding time.

Pointless with Desert Cat though - no undercoat, so it doesn't work. He'd end up bald.

We have a similar type of brush (basically same thing but unbranded) for our two domestic shorthairs. One of them sheds like crazy all year round and was getting fur balls, we now brush her daily and this helps a lot. Our other cat (her brother) hardly sheds at all.
