Hoping to adopt a kitten

Hi Everyone,
We would really like to adopt a kitten from a rescue but there never seem to be any available. We already have another cat and to maximize the chances of her accepting a new arrival I think a kitten would be best rather than an adult cat as our cat is a bit of a wimp.
We have two children (8 & 5) who are very good with our cat and adore her. We don't live near a main road and have plenty of open space around us so that counts in our favour I think.
There just don't seem to be any available. I have tried Battersea, RSPCA and local rescues. Most of these don't seem to hold a waiting list. I'm happy to wait and rescue rather than buy. We are in Kent if that is relevant.
I had thought that this would be a good time of year as it is kitten season.
When we rescued our last cat it was incredibly easy, we walked in to RSPCA, picked out a kitten and left with her there and then. We can't do that at the moment as they aren't open for visits unless you are going to see a specific cat.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

Thanks!

Have you tried Rolvenden Cat Rescue? That's where I got my (adult) cats from almost exactly 5 years ago, and they usually have some this time of year. You need to call them, as nowhere lets you just turn up these days.

Thank you. I'd not come across this rescue centre during my travels round Google. They look like a good option but unfortunately don't have any kittens at the moment. I'll try back in a month or so.

In the meantime the search continues...

A quick update from me. We have found two kittens at a local rescue. They are too young to leave their mum but we visited them today and they will be with us in a month or so. DCs are ridiculously excited.

Now to think of names...Smile

Go for names that are different in sound to your original cat to not confuse the resident boss of the house cat. Although they will probably still all respond to calling in case it's food related!
