Hand hold- kitten run over

Although as per thread I have been browsing sitting in the vet car park, technically he is now a cat as he is 9 months old.

Was run over this morning and found by a neighbour who took him to the nearest vet (not ours). She has been monitoring him but couldn't get a surgeon free for pelvic surgery so I had to bring him to the overnight hospital to look after him until we can try again for a referral tomorrow. OOH vet has examined him and said it is actually critical and is trying to get him operated on. He has been waiting all day for nothing.

Poor soul. So glad he was found by your lovely neighbour. Thinking of you and wishing your kitty well. Let us know how everything goes. Flowers

Thehawki · 29/04/2021 23:33

Oh you poor thing how horrible. Sending you all of my love and good wishes. I really hope your kitty can make a good recovery, it’s such a scary thing to happen x

FallingStar21 · 29/04/2021 23:38

Such a shame, a surgeon not found all day Sad Is there anywhere else you can try? Sending hugs and prayers for kitten's recovery x

We had a young cat who was knocked down and who managed to crawl into a neighbours back garden. We found her at night just lying there. I don't know for how long. Anyway her hip was shattered, she had 2 ops and a metal pin inserted. She went on to live until she was 14. Sending you hugs, try and be positive and hopefully things will be better tomorrow. Poor kitty, aren't they a worry.

So sorry OP, is his pelvis fractured ?
Sending all good wishes for him to get through the surgery .

rottielove · 29/04/2021 23:56

Sorry to read about your poor kitten. At 9 months I think they are still kittens! Hope he gets through surgery ok and a speedy recovery. Will keep him in my thoughts. Please us posted.

Thanks. Currently sitting outside Fitzpatricks as not even allowed in due to Covid (or poss as it is 1am!)

Cost is so high that might not be able to afford the treatment as could far exceed the insurance but may as well spend what we have and see where that gets us. Alternative is PTS immediately.

rottielove · 30/04/2021 12:28

Any update op?

crazylikechocolate · 30/04/2021 14:45

Thinking of you , hoping for a happy update Thanks

NeurologicallySpeaking · 30/04/2021 17:54

Ugh so exhausted! They stabilised him overnight as his vitals weren't good when we arrived and did one surgery this afternoon which was successful. Another one to come once he has recovered so not out of the woods but holding on tenaciously.

Pic of his brother snuggling with a human while he waits for his sick brother to come home!

Well done, he’s got through the worst of it by the sound of it.

Can you cat proof your garden? My little Bengal was run over but didn’t survive and we’ll be catproofing before I take on another cat.

NeurologicallySpeaking · 30/04/2021 18:40

Yes I'm researching it. The cost is astronomical though which isn't great when am trying to find everything I can for his treatment 😔

Oh that's great news. So happy he is getting there. Wee scone, his brother is adorable too. I know the cost is through the roof but what can you do?

Sparklfairy · 30/04/2021 20:10

Oh so glad for the update. Thinking of you and him Flowers

I have to ask, do you mean THE Fitzpatrick's I.e. supervet?!

How is he today?.

You could just do a catio instead, your obviously heading for a huge vets bill.

NeurologicallySpeaking · 01/05/2021 16:58

Yes the Supervet- we are in London so it is one of the local clinics to us!

Catio as an interim measure might have to be the way forward (he will be in a crate for weeks of course). Would prefer Protectapet though as then they could have the whole garden to play in.

He is being picky about his food and being quiet which is not like him at all but his stats are good at least!
