Has anyone installed a cat flap in an external wall?

As per the title!

The only realistic option for a cat flap in our house is installing one through the a wall.

Has anyone done this? Was it expensive? Was your cat happy to use a ‘tunnel’ style cat flap?

Any advice appreciated!

My mum has a wall cat flap at her house. It was put in at the same time as an extension was built.

The cat was absolutely fine with it. The only very slight issue was as the house is raised up a bit the cat flap was actually quite high up the wall on the outside of the house. Cat could actually manage it ok but we built a little wooden step to go underneath it outside to make it easier for her.

Yes! Just had one put in a year ago as part of the bigger extension/refurbishment so don't have a cost for you
Ours has two flaps and a tunnel - cats are fine with it and there's no draughty ness either as one flap on either side

DB did it and the cat had no problems going in and out or bringing in his unhappy victims through it. My concern would be if they drop the latter and it rots?

What do you mean? No walls are so thick that you can't reach inside a tunnel that goes through them.

My brother's one seemed pretty thick/long, Admittedly it was some time ago and he's moved, but that's how I remember it.
