Prinocate - experiences?

Our cat had a bad reaction to bravecto a few months back so vet has now given Prinocate instead. As I'm now a bit paranoid about what I put on her and can't find any reviews online, I thought I'd ask here if anyone has used it. It seems to be a fairly new product and also appears to be similar to advocate but I've not used that before either...

I am searching for info on this too, I have used advocate for all 3 of mine and they have been fine. The vet has just given me Prinocate. Did you find out anything @MoonshineWashingLine

Mine were on Advocate, last time round vet gave me Prinocate & said it's the same stuff. Seen no difference in the cats after using it.

Thank you @Allergictoironing

I just used Prinocate at 6am today on Baby my beloved cat and had the scariest thing happen ever .Baby had some kind of immediate seizure after putting it between his shoulders having been in my arms moments earlier very happy and purring he immediately went unconscious for a few seconds and then when i put him down he couldn't even walk properly and seemed drunk, I rushed him to the bathroom and washed it off and he didn't even fight me though he despises water , and have rushed him by uber to the emergency vet in Belsize park which was the only vet close by open so early ,he is under observation still there. He is elderly around 14 years old and an exquisite Nebelung .The vet said they had not heard of this reaction ,but before my vet gave me Advantage to use and I used it for 5 years with no bad effect .Honestly it was the most horrific thing ,I'm traumatised that I did this to him. The vet just called and says his blood work shows he has low blood sugar ,(but he was perfectly fine and had just eaten 10 minutes prior to this) she says it was unlikely that Prinocate caused this reaction so quickly but I'm not buying it, it was literally immediate, as if he'd just been poisoned. How many times have tested prescription drugs caused horrifying reactions with humans before they withdraw them and admit that they are dangerous ? I am so freaked out and beside myself about this .I know what I saw and i will never allow this stuff anywhere near my furry angel again. Please read this and post and be warned and if you have had a similar experience please post .

Have just started my 13 year old spaniel on Primocate after a vet consult yesterday. I have always used Advocate (fipronil) on both dogs and cats. Her coat had become quite dreadful and she has been scratching a lot. I have been giving her salmon oil and changed her diet to exclude wheat. I was shocked and embarrassed when she was diagnosed with sarcoptic mange. This is often caught from urban foxes and I clearly need to engage firmly with my neighbour who feeds a family of them in his garden next door. I am absolutely furious. The effect of Prinocate overnight is that she is hardly scratching at all and is quite rested and calm. Prinocate acts on fleas, lungworm and mange, as well as several other parasites, but not on ticks. Her appetite is not affected today and she seems fine, but she is a bigger and more robust animal. Maybe the size of the dose was too much or maybe she is particularly sensitive. I do hope your kitten is fine now😻Mange is highly contagious and absolutely disgusting. The mites can live on us and cats but the females can only produce their young on dogs. Until the foxes next door leave she will have to have Prinocate or similar every month. In the meantime I will have to do battle.

Recently took my cat to our usual family run vet and was also given Prinocate instead of usual Advocate, and an alternative to another pain killer - thought that was odd. Found out the surgery had sold out to Medivet last year. CVC Capital Partners bought Medi Vet in 2021- i.e. it's now a financial company only interested in making money. They have bought out most family run vet surgeries the UK and have obviously 'done deals' with certain drug suppliers. They are like a disease themselves. If you have any animal that's not a cat, dog or rabbit - good luck. Medivet consider them as 'exotic' and won't see them - including mice....even if your surgery would see this type of pet a couple of years ago, they won't now.

My Spaniels have always happily used Advocate, however the vet no longer does this and gave us Prinocate instead - 10 days later my dogs are still riddled with fleas. They say it's the same, however, my constantly scratching dogs say otherwise. Bought flea shampoo for instant relief - retreated my house and received another prescription from the vet!
