On my way home from work tonight, my husband rang me to say the local vet called to say our cat had been run over. We rushed there (literally a minute away) and was showed his X-ray and him lay on a warmed bed crying in pain. We had no choice but to let him go. He wasn't even 3. I needed wanted to let him out but he was so unhappy being inside. We tried to keep him safe by keeping him in at night.

I feel heartbroken, literally can feel my heart shattering. My DD13 is so upset, husband has sobbed his heart out: I had an ectopic 13 years ago and feel sadder than I did then. He had become my baby replacement. I can't believe I won't see his handsome face again.

Thank you all. It hurts a lot I woke up sobbing.

We have a 7 month old kitten who is very confused as to where his big brother is 💔

I’m sorry, it hurts so much. I lost my boy on the road too.

You can cat proof gardens, I wish I’d done mine.

I’m devastated for you op i don’t know what else to say other than my heart goes out to you. He was one hell of a lucky cat to have had so much love in his life x

I am so sorry for your loss. Its so hard when it is sudden and they are still so young, you just feel cheated. Try to hold on to the fact you gave your pet a loving happy life. It never feels like it will get better at the time, but the pain does ease slowly.

I’m so sorry. You gave him the best life. Flowers
