Ulysses had an op today, guess what they found?

He’s absolutely fine by the way, it must have been in there for years and didn’t seem to bother him unless you poked it.

Wow.

Can you make a pendant out of it? Does he wear a collar because that would be well cool and he could really show off to his mates Grin but it might be safer if you wore it. You'd always have an answer to any ice breaker questions "well, let me show you the bullet they pulled out of my cat in 2021"

FelicityBeedle · 26/03/2021 16:25

I think I’m going to frame it... Just need to persuade DP!

MrsVeryTired · 26/03/2021 16:30

Aww poor puss, you need to change his name to something gangsta like Fiddy (50Cent) or Tupac Grin

BabyMoonPie · 26/03/2021 16:33

Poor Ulysses :-( glad he's got a lovely family after being a stray

(On a side note - anyone else now singing the theme tune from the 80s kids TV show Ulysses?)

FelicityBeedle · 26/03/2021 16:38

The bullet itself

Goodness! I read about a cat recently who was xraye and had a ridiculous amount of pellets in her. They removed some but what goes through someone's head to shoot cats? Well, any living thing.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/03/2021 17:41

Over 20 years ago a previous cat of mine was shot by some evil little shit with an airgun.

The local press picked it up - this was the headline.
I really miss dramatic local newspaper reporting. Grin.

Tlollj · 26/03/2021 17:51

Oh no poor Ulysses. I think we need a photo of him not just the bullet!
He needs lots of loving.

Oldraver · 26/03/2021 17:53

We have had a serious of cats being shot on one particular road going back 18 odd years

Police dont seem too fussed about it to be honest, apart from the usual press soundbites.

IHateThinkingUpANewUsername · 26/03/2021 17:56

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats the cat going out in the choke chain - wtf?! Grin

Easterbunnygettingready · 26/03/2021 18:04

He needs a new name. The Catfather....

FelicityBeedle · 26/03/2021 18:12

I tried a trick I saw online, but then in a baby onesie to stop them bothering their stitches, needless to say it’s all a lie and didn’t work. I’ll get a photo of him in his cone when he comes down, but for now here he is in his usual magnificence

That poor cat. Honestly I’d like to see all air rifles banned. They should need licences.

What are they even for? Not powerful enough for any long range vermin control or shooting game birds.

SpringCrocus · 26/03/2021 19:21

I have an air rifle, I would not dream of shooting cats! I use it to humanely kill live trapped rats and squirrels, which are eating my crops/chickens.

If they stick to the 6 acre woodland and wild areas I provide, I leave them alone, but when they threaten my food supply/livestock/pet areas, I trap them and shoot them.

Most air rifle owners are not psychopaths, please!

SpringCrocus · 26/03/2021 19:26

Poor puss, hope he recovers asap.

One of our cats had a fight with something last month, (mink?) he got really beaten up and had multiple abcesses.
Was very poorly, 5 day stay in vet hospital, but now fully recovered and today tried to get an extra meal by holding up the paw which was injured.

It's fully healed btw, but I suspect he hoped it would get him some extra food! (It did)

SpringCrocus · 26/03/2021 19:27

I agree air rifles, like other firearms, should be licenced.

FelicityBeedle · 26/03/2021 19:30

I don’t mine air rifles, and I don’t mind them being unlicensed. I do object to people shooting innocent creatures for fun. You can humanely nab a rabbit with an air rifle, or as said above use for pest control

Suzi888 · 26/03/2021 19:38

Aww I thought it was going to be something funnySad poor puss! Glad he’s ok though.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/03/2021 19:44

You can illegally alter them, someone offered to do dhs, so they are more powerful.

I felt safer with the shotguns because they were heavier so a young kid would struggle to mount one or pull the trigger but the air rifle was so light. & didn’t need a cabinet.

Our cat loved gun cleaning time. Most of dhs guns had scratch marks on the barrels where he’d played with them.

EasterIsComing · 26/03/2021 19:49

Our cat came in with blood pouring out of his face last summer. Once the vet had cleaned it up she said she was 90% sure it was a pellet wound. There was a hole the perfect size for a pellet next to his nose. It took 6 months for his whiskers to grow back but all fine now.

Wee lad was on the stairs for ages and I wanted a better eye on him, so gently transferred to basket and brought him down to sit next to me for the evening g

How's the poor little guy doing now?
AlfonsoTheTerrible · 01/04/2021 09:12

Poor baby. I hope he feels better now that the pellet has been removed.
