Local Male cats!

We seem to have a number of male un-neutered cats nearby. I don't know if any of them have owners. I think possibly two may be strays but we have a neighbor who regularly leaves food out for cats. Health wise they seem ok but I can't get close enough to give a good check over.

Our problem is in the past month this is the second time there have been 4/5 males in the garden, I'm presuming there's an un neutered female around, the last time the female I know had an owner, and I think this one does too (has a cllollar) however I have no idea who their owners are. Is there anything can we do? We are quite a large residential area so it is possible that all the cats have owners but I'm not actually sure. My own cats (spayed and neutered) keep asking to go outside and running back into the house. We have always had quite a few different cats passing by throughout the day but our garden seems a magnet for cats at the moment!

I'm sorry I can't offer a solution OP but I'm always annoyed when I see another Facebook post of mainly male un-neutered and rarely microchipped cats that are lost, hanging around someone's garden or posted by a local vets of a dead one. I really want to make my feelings known but I don't want to show that I'm judging the feckless owners but I do judge them privately. There is no excuse. If you can't afford neutering, microchipping and vaccinating them maybe a goldfish would be a better option.

There's a cat who comes calling - literally, he marches along and lets off a howl with every step and who sprays over our back door most nights - am I right in thinking he will not have been neutered? I've seen him in the daylight and he looks very well cared for, long brushed hair, so had assumed he was just vocal until we got a security camera and I saw the spaying. Can a neutered tomcat spray?

I've seen a neutered male cat stand and spray against a hedge. I wouldn't know if it smelled different to an un-neutered male cat's pee though.

We get a male (don't know if he's neutered) come after our female spayed cat. The bastard pisses/sprays on the cat flap. He can't get in fortunately, as it's microchip controlled but it stinks and is a bloody nuisance. Our poor girl is too frightened to go out sometimes.

A motion activated sprinkler works a treat, you won't hear from them again.

Closetbeanmuncher Alas the back door also contains the cat flap and I think our cats might complain about that.
