... what would it have done after getting off the train? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-56271478

One of mine would not be able to get up there (anything over 50cm is unobtainable), assuming she had though she would though have initially looked really confused and then disgusted with the rescuers for having put the train there in the first place.

The other one would wait until everyone had gone and then jumped down and exceeded 125mph running to get away.

That cat looks suspiciously like TC.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/03/2021 14:19

Mine wouldn't have been able to get up there in the first place, thank God! They can't climb.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/03/2021 14:20

Actually Cheddar would have been in the first class carriages demanding cuddles.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 05/03/2021 14:25

I loved this bit of the report.
Its rescuers described it as "swaggering off" with the air of having somewhere else to be. Grin

Bythemillpond · 05/03/2021 14:28

One of mine would have still been up there. He loves doing the opposite of what you want him to do.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 05/03/2021 14:31

Spartacus

I've texted NDN, enclosing this report, asking if he can account for TC's activities on Tuesday evening 🙀

QueenPaw · 05/03/2021 14:32

Mine wouldn't have been up there Grin
He claims vertigo over anything a foot high and would be "trains LOUD. An for HOOMANS"
I've seen him wait at a zebra crossing for a car to stop before Blush

Want2beme · 05/03/2021 15:49

One of mine wouldn't leave. He'd sit, staring, putting the pressure on someone to feed him or give him lots of rubs, purring louder than the train enginesGrin The other one would be an hysterical wreck, looking for the closest safe spaceShock

minipie · 05/03/2021 15:54

Mine would sit about 1 metre out of reach. But would still want attention and strokes. Every time the hoomans got within touching distance, she would move slightly further down the train so she’s juuuuust out of reach again. Then would look at them with her “why aren’t you stroking me, slave” face.

This would go on for some time.

Iwantacookie · 05/03/2021 16:04

One of mine would of waited until maximum audience was there then jump down and demand fuss and probably acted like shes starving too.

MrsVeryTired · 05/03/2021 16:11

Mine would never have got there in the first place, she's a lazy lump Grin

My old cat would have done exactly as described, although perhaps including some intimidating staredowns accompanied by low growling of anyone who got anywhere near attempting to "rescue" her, she was fearless.

purrswhileheeats · 05/03/2021 17:01

Kloppy would have recruited a few of his mates to join him, he loves being high up and causing mayhem Hmm The poor terrified passengers would just hear the thud thud thud of him galloping along the roof and think they were trapped in a real life NYC horror movie Grin

Vinorosso74 · 05/03/2021 17:03

Ours wouldn't have stayed up there as long as that cat as he'd have been too hungry.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 05/03/2021 17:11

it made me laugh like a drain....holding this train hostage for so long, and also that not one person thought that he might like something to jump down on, and that he did not move until a bin was placed for his exclusive use!

nettie434 · 05/03/2021 20:39

Glad you are checking up on TC, Grumpy. If it wasn't him, it must be a relation. The clue is in 'swaggering'.

Vinorosso74 · 05/03/2021 21:13

Laurie I wondered that when I first read the article, the top of a train is high so surely getting something to help the cat down sooner would have helped!
Two thoughts I had: firstly, filling in a delay repay form, "we had to move to a different train due to a cat on the roof" and secondly, the roads around Euston station are bloody busy for a poor cat!

CannotOperateOnThisFailure · 05/03/2021 21:16

But where do you go to my lovely
When you're alone on your train?
Won't you tell me the thoughts that surround you?
I want to look inside your head, yes I do

thecatneuterer · 06/03/2021 12:38

On a serious note I can't believe they just let a cat wander off in the middle of Euston station . If a proper rescue had been involved in that then they would have taken the cat in, scanned it and, if not chipped, waited until the owners got in touch. It could have come from anywhere. It could even have been dumped by a passenger or have escaped from a carrier. I've been annoyed/worried about this story ever since I first heard about it.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/03/2021 23:22

Very true TCN. I didn't actually read the article, I just looked at the picture so I didn't realise this. But yes, that was poor form.

Furries · 07/03/2021 03:42

Am guessing the announcement of “this train is out of service due to a cat on the roof” made an interesting change to the usual leaves on the line etc. I’d have been the passenger not moving to the new train, but waiting to make sure the cat was safe.

Completely agree that they shouldn’t have let it swagger off.

I totally agree. The poor thing might quite disoriented...!

violetbunny · 07/03/2021 04:44

*be quite disoriented

Oldraver · 07/03/2021 17:23

Oh mine would of been straight up there. Then looking round for other trains to hop around on, before finding a ladder to climb down

MillicentMargaretAmanda · 07/03/2021 20:24

Mine probably wouldn't have got up there in the first place but absolutely would have come down if a treat packet was rustled.

coastergirl · 07/03/2021 21:31

Mine would have been looking down blankly at people, wondering what the fuss was about. He's not very bright, bless him.
