Very sick cat

I'm hoping someone with some experience can reassure me! Our cat is an 8 month old Siberian. She's an indoor cat. About 5 days ago she started being sick, just off and on, not more than once a day. Seemed well in herself, but then took a turn for the worse yesterday and was being constantly sick. I phoned the vet and she was really nice, just said to withhold food and keep an eye.
This morning I found she had been sick twice in the night, and then late morning had another really awful bout of vomiting.
Took her to the vet who couldn't find anything wrong on observing her except for a bit of a tender tummy but he didn't think anything was twisted/ stuck. Gave her anti-sickness injection and gave me some gastrointestinal food for when she gets hungry.
She's so poorly. She's not been sick again but she's so lethargic and not asking for food at all. She's drinking little amounts. I thought she'd be a bit better by now; the vet suggested she would too.
Any ideas or reassurance?!

No diarrhoea, hopefully a good sign!

Our cat was vomiting a lot took her to the vet she had a stomach infection following a stay at the cattery (if that's relevant). She was given special cat food (that she refused to eat) and an anti-emetic injection, plus antibiotics. She was fine after about a week.

No cut flowers you brought recently?

NoNeedToArgue · 02/03/2021 20:56

No flowers and no cattery stays. She was spayed about 3 weeks ago, seemingly with no complications.

Has she improved at all?.

NoNeedToArgue · 03/03/2021 12:51

Hi @Fluffycloudland77 thanks for asking. No, she was in a lot of discomfort this morning so straight back to the vet. She's had blood tests and ultrasound and there is swelling in her intestines and stomach. They think some kind of obstruction. They're operating now. SadSad

Oh lord, what a nightmare for you. When can you ring them?.

It’s such a rollercoaster with cats.

NoNeedToArgue · 03/03/2021 14:41

She's out of surgery. They found something in her intestine- I don't know what it is, neither do they, but I'll see it when I pick her up! Apparently she woke up exceptionally well from the anaesthetic but still has a lot of fluid in her tummy. I'll pick her up at 7, all being well. And breathe!!

At least she’s awake and responsive, and she’s young so she’s got that going for her too.

Stickytreacle · 03/03/2021 14:54

Good it has been found quickly, now just to recover!

Vinorosso74 · 03/03/2021 16:07

They certainly know how to cause us stress! Hope she makes a swift recovery.

NoNeedToArgue · 03/03/2021 18:15

Thank you everyone!

How is she doing and what was the blockage?
Fingers crossed for a swift recovery Smile

I dont know why people talk about having pets as relaxing. Hope all is ok.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/03/2021 20:10

My pair have definitely not been relaxing!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/03/2021 20:27

It’s not relaxing at all is it? The most important person to you turns out to be furry with an average life expectancy

Elmo311 · 07/03/2021 08:54

Hi OP. How is she doing? X

NoNeedToArgue · 09/03/2021 22:27

She's almost back to normal, thanks! The thing stuck in her intestine was a rubber screw - I have absolutely no idea where it came from. None of us recognise it at all which is really strange. Goodness knows how she managed to swallow it!
She's been wearing her cone at night but hasn't touched her stitches at all which is great, and all is healing really well Smile

Good grief, how do they get themselves into these situations. Rubber can’t taste nice.
