Cat only wants to pee outside

My kitten is 10 months old and she’s lovely. She was indoor only for few months but now goes outside. Another cat (whom she played with few times) must’ve taught her to pee / poop outside and now she doesn’t want to use her litter tray at all. She wakes us up early and ask to he let out. I tried mixing her litter with some soil but she’s still reluctant. Is this normal or weird? My baby for you to see her floofy butt 😂

Yes, it's very normal. Some cats will never use the litter tray again once they discover they can go outside, while others will continue to use the litter tray sometimes as well as going outside, it depends on the cat. Is it possible to fit a cat flap or leave a window open so they can let themselves out? That would be the best solution.

Try ultra clumping, it’s more soil like. She might not like her litter now she knows how soft soil is.

I’d always keep a cat in overnight for safety.

Mine will come into the house to use the litter tray , walking in with that "I'm on a mission, don't interfere" look .
Scrape scrape on the inside walls of the tray then walk back "You might want to sort that , yeah"

Oddly they spent the first few weeks of their lives feral but as adults they like the luxury of Cars Best .

Ours had been an indoor cat until we adopted her at three. As soon as we started letting her out she stopped using the tray. We do keep her in overnight - and pre-Covid when we went to actual work - and she has two trays to choose from, but she will generally hold on.

In the snow the other week my DP ended up having to go and clear a patch, then take it so it wasn’t frozen, then carry the little princess out to it!

She’s gorgeous Smile Is it the being woken up early to let her out that’s the real issue? Could you get a cat flap so she can come and go?

Much nicer that she goes outside imo - one less job to sort if she doesn’t use the litter tray.

Our cat never uses a litter tray. We had it out sometimes when it was really cold or wet but he still preferred going outside. It’s embarrassing really as he likes to wee on the communal lawn in full view of all the neighbours.

Oh, we shut madam in the kitchen at nights. She has her bed in there, plus food/water/tray. Otherwise she is in our bed at 5 demanding her breakfast.
