Food Swap

Hi, I've currently got two lovey little furballs who have wet food and dry food. Their dried food is Go Cat Crunchy and Tender which works out quite expensive. I'm due to go on maternity leave in 3 weeks and looking to find a similar food which is cheaper- does anyone have any ideas on a cheaper food which is very similar? They're both quite fussy!

Thanks :)

I mix normal go cat with crunchy and tender. I do a 50/50 mix in an old ice cream container so it’s a lot cheaper but they still get the tasty tender bits Grin

That's a good idea- I hadn't thought of that! Do you know if the normal go cat similar to the crunchy and tender? Don't want to go straight in and do 50/50 in case it upsets their stomachs if you see what I mean? x

Go Cat is the cheapest branded cat food (and really should be avoided for male cats especially), but supermarket own brands can be cheaper and higher quality (Sainsbury's cat foods are generally very good).

Higher quality foods typically cost more per gram but need feeding in smaller amounts, so can work out equivalent or less if you bulk buy (Zooplus is good), and it's worth checking manufacturers' websites to try and get samples.

Go cat is a terrible cat food with cereal as the first ingredient. Cats are carnivores so meat should be the highest % in what they are eating.

Check own brand food and try and choose one with a bit more meat than what they're getting

Tinned cat food in large tins usually works out cheapest. Go Cat really isn’t very good quality.

I believe Sainsbury's do an own brand cat food which is grain free! Really well priced, our cat ate it and loved it until we committed with a massive bag then wouldn't touch it. 🙄
