How fluffy are Bengals; we are used to Siamese/oriental - will we cope?

We are considering a rescue Bengal, are they very fluffy? Are they more needy than Siameae?

Are we likely to be able to walk on a lead?

They are currently fed on raw food - how does that work?

Exploring now (we lost out boy on Aug and DH has been grieving since but is slowly coming round)

Not very fluffy, very loyal. Needs a lot of playtime.

My neighbour has one, he has lovely shiny sleek fur, not fluffy at all.

So being a rescue could cause problems? They could miss their current owner

Naughty, cheeky, don't like to be kept in. My neighbour has two they are often found in other people's houses. The male in particular is very cheeky.

We joke my dog spends all day watching Bengal TV as they riot on my patio.

Sounds fab, sadly they normally pick DH as their person!!

But hopefully I'll get cuddles

And the moment passed and he is back to not wanting a cat again because "they will die" 😢

I'm sorry that he is vacillating. We've always made the decision to give a cat a home even if they turn out to be sick or have other issues. We've always thought that we have so much to offer a cat rather than it being confined to a rescue or living a horrible short life. We've had some cats with us for months and some that have lived many years. Yes, everything dies in the end but we're willing to try and make another creature's life better through our actions.

I'm sorry if that comes across as moralising or patronising, ultimately we have it in our power to make things better. I hope your DH does come round.

I agree totally and to be fair so did DH, but Flynn was definitely his boy - and last year he was very poorly for many months

I think if it happened again we might over-rule the vet sooner

Plus of course all the trauma of lockdown/shielding etc

Our friends just got a rescue so she will be talking about the benefits on fb so that might persuade him I hope
