When do I start to worry.

I have a gorgeous cat. Age 11. He has a very rigid routine. Like clockwork.

But. He has not been seen since late last night. I have done a walk around where we live shaking treats and nothing. This is very not like him. He doesn’t go far and he is never gone this long.

He has a heart murmur which the doctors were a little bit worried about in his last check up. I’m sat here waiting for him to walk in through the door. At what point do I start to worry properly.

I'd be worried if it's out of character for him.

Paranoidandroidmarvin1350 · 24/01/2021 16:02

I am. I’m sat here by the window waiting for him to jump on the window sill. My husband is going to make flyers tomorrow at work if he is not back. I have also put a post on the village Facebook page. Had a cry earlier.
He doesn’t go out for long. He only ever sticks to the front of our house or under his bush.
I’m worried. And have a sinking feeling in my stomach.

I feel very helpless at the moment.

Pop his litter tray outside, he will smell the scent for a long way to help him home

Toddlerteaplease · 24/01/2021 16:36

Check under bushes with a torch. As it will reflect his eyes. Ask neighbours to check sheds and garages.

Paranoidandroidmarvin1350 · 24/01/2021 17:54

He has not got a litter box. Always gone outside. He has lived on this street for 11 years. And never gone far from the house. So I would be surprised if he was lost. Everyone here knows him. Just feeling helpless. And just praying that he isn’t hurt somewhere and I can’t find him.

I hope he finds his way home and is not hurt. Phone around vets in the morning. Phone council just in case anyone has found him.

Been out again today. Went further afield calling his name but nothing. My husband has printed off leaflets to put through peoples doors.
Still really upset and can’t believe it really. One min there abs the next gone.

Keep going, have you shone a torch around at night so his little eyes reflect in it?.

Can you catproof the garden so it doesn’t happen again?.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 25/01/2021 16:42

I'd ask neighbours to check sheds and outbuildings, it's very common for cats to get shut in.

McCorona · 25/01/2021 16:54

No advice but really feeling for you. Sometimes they do go off and hide if they're feeling poorly, and sometimes they go out and get shut in somewhere. Don't give up, keep looking and calling and shaking those Dreamies!

My DCat went missing for weeks at about that age. He came back.
Use local find my pet type sites and Nextdoor.

A very hungry cat just walked in through the cat flap !!!!!! Has eaten a ton of food and is now back on my sons bed where he should be.
I did tell him off Grin but now I’m crying tears of joy.
