Hi I'm wondering if anyone can shed any light on this.
My just over 5 month male kitten has out of the blue pissed all over my 2 year daughters bed and not just a little bit completely soaked it we've had to Chuck the bed completely out.
He's never done anything like this before we've had him almost 3 weeks now he's been to the vets as soon as we got him to have his first lot of vaccinations been checked over and had a microchip he's due his next vaccinations next week already booked in.
I've also got him going to the vets later today to get him checked over to make sure it's not a urinary infection or anything else 🥺
He has 24/7 access to his litter box it's regular checked and any poos cleared straight away and I'd say cleaning it to fresh Every 3-4 days for him.
He has both wet food eating very well and dry food he also has fresh water daily with access to all over the house plenty of toys and plenty of love and affection he's my kitten and will always snuggle up with me on my lap snoozing or come to me for a lot of petting and very chatty.
He is currently an indoor kitten as he hasn't yet been done and can't yet due to covid so I'm having to keep him inside until that's done.
He doesn't seem to be in any pain but I have noticed the past two days his penis has been sticking out and he's been licking himself down there but as I said he doesn't seem to be in any discomfort or pain so I haven't a clue if this is behavioural or perhaps a urinary infection.
Sorry for the long post grateful for any helpful advice.

has he been neutered yet, and was it definitely pee and not spraying? it might be time for him to get the snip.

Odd!! Perhaps marking?
Cat wee stinks my cat very kindly peed on my pillow recently no rhyme nor reason.

We don’t allow the cats into bedrooms & I have waterproof covers on all mattresses, duvet and pillows cost me an arm and a leg as I got decent ones that aren’t all crunchy - youngest is incontinent so he had them on his but had a habit of sitting on my bed or his brothers beds so I just got covers for every one saves worry if naughty cats so decide to have accidents and saves your beds. Hopefully the vet can rule out any issues with kitten. I have 2 girl kittens 6 months old they use litter tray no probs too, but like it v clean so make sure it’s always accessible for them and scooped out - fun job.

We can't yet get him done because of covid the vets aren't doing it because it's not emergency it stank but there was loads and I always thought a spray would be small amounts this has completely ruined my daughters bed it went through her bedspread then her duvet and her mattress and as hers was a cot bed it even managed to get past the waterproof part so I haven't a clue
He won't be allowed in any of the bedrooms now after this incident having just had to spend our £400 for a new bed for my daughter and all the stuff to go with it and as you said our beds and duvets aren't cheap either so don't want him to ruin anymore thank you both for replying

Could you try a different vet. I've had ours done this week.

jobnockey · 22/01/2021 12:15

yep, my vet told me they weren't doing any neutering until lockdown is over so I tried a different practice who are happy to do it, we now have an appointment booked for a week's time. Definitely worth checking elsewhere...

2beautifulbabs · 22/01/2021 13:42

Thank you I shall do that once he's been later to be checked over and we know what we are dealing with I shall phone around and see if another vet is able to do it

The penis and licking thing does sound like a physical problem. Hopefully the vet will be able to sort it out.

Prestel · 22/01/2021 17:14

I agree with the above that a physical issue could be behind it. Territorial marking tends to be small amounts sprayed on vertical surfaces. Large amounts of wee on flat services tend to be stress-related - so in this case possibly stress from a physical condition, so you're right to start with a trip to the vets.

2beautifulbabs · 22/01/2021 19:11

Just an update he's been checked over he has cystitis vet doesn't think it's stress related been given medication for him and just keep an eye on him thank you all for your help

We had ours done last week so it is possible, but you might have to travel.

Oh good, hopefully he'll be on the mend soon 😊
