Cat poo on grass!

Not your normal rant about other peoples cats pooing in your garden, just a plea for help!
In the last couple of months, someone's cat is pooing right in the middle of our lawn - I'll clean it up and every couple of days go our and find 5 or 6 new ones. I keep hoping it'll be cold and freeze to make clean up easier because they're quite soft 😔. I have a 2.5 year old and a small is garden so don't feel like I can let him out to run around because it's impossible to clean up fully.

The irritating thing is that I have two cats who won't poo outside! They'll go for a run around for a few hours, come in and use the litter tray within minutes.

I feel like I could own it a bit if it were my cats but I've got a phantom intruder pooer! Obviously most repellent techniques might deter my own cats from being in the garden and I don't want that, what can I do?!

Maybe sprinkle some of your used cats litter around the edge of your garden. It might deter them?

Middle of the lawn is an unusual place for a cat to poo as they can't bury it. However it could well be a fox as they DO poo in the middle of the lawn/on paths/anywhere people will step in it.

@heybeendyingtomeetyou that's not a bad shout I've just got to work out where I put it that ds won't get to

@allergictoironing well that's what I thought but I can't imagine it's a fox - we live on a new build estate with no woodland and it's a typical rectangle fenced garden, don't know where it would get in. Plus it smells like cat poo Envy but yeah, right smack in the middle of the lawn.

I live on an ex-council estate, nearest woods over half a mile away across a busy main road, small gardens, and I've had cats making their home in my garden under bushes & getting into a shed via a hole in the back. They can jump over quite high fences too, watched one of "mine" going over a 5 foot fence with no effort at all to go next door.

I regularly see them trotting across my road at night, and am woken up by them yelling at each other or chittering. I'm dreading the next couple of months, as it's mating season coming up and the screams are blood curdling!

Do you mean foxes rather than cats allergic?

Sorry yes, foxes.

Foxes have quite distinctive poo I believe. I found a twirly poo in my back garden and I know there are foxes about so I googled it and the shape and small feathers in it do suggest fox poo. There was also a very sweet smell in my back garden for a while - I assume this was associated.

Cats definitely do leave pop on top of grass. It even has a name - middening. It’s territory marking behaviour.
I agree with a pp that you need to make clear it is your cats’ territory. It’s also probably more than one cat.
