My cat is pregnant, I know I'll get flamed for letting her get pregnant but it was unintentional and we've already spoken to the vets about getting her spayed.
She is due any day now, any advice on what I need to do to make her and the babies comfortable? My vet said not to bring her in unless she's been in labour for 10 hours.
She has plenty of quiet places, she's on kitten food already but what would I expect eith her giving birth? Do I need to do anythng?

I cant help but remember my cat when I was a child 30 years ago having kittens behind our curtains. We provided a large kitchen cupboard that was spare and filled it with blankets. I guess now a puppy crate would be a good space for mum and kittens.
I also remember her eating the after birth.
Hope everything goes well.

A feral cat (Mrs cat) gave birth under my car last year.
We totally panicked and phoned the vets, as we had no idea what to do. They were right - she knew exactly what to do.
We did as advised, and relocated her and two kittens to the shed with a box and plenty of towels, where she went on to have kitten number 3.
Mrs cat knew exactly how to care for them. We just fed and watered her, changed the box bedding daily.

I can't offer any advice other than being there for her. That's all you can do really. To be honest I only opened this thread because it said Kittens Grin Animals give birth in wild all the time. Awwwww. Good luck to mummy cat. You must be so excited waiting for your Gran kitties.

Let us know when she has them

My advice is leave her alone to get on with it. Make sure she has food and water and a litter tray nearby. Keep children well away from her as they may alarm her with either noise or presence.

And ... the hardest part ... don’t touch the newborn kittens. Some cats will abandon their kittens after they have been handled by humans. Mummy cat is capable of looking after them herself.

Generally mum cat knows what to do, but not always, especially a young cat with a first (and hopefully last litter) you need to be on hand to help her if she needs it, our cat had kittens many years ago. Once the kittens have arrived, leave her to get on with it, it will stress her otherwise and she might start trying to hide her kittens, which was what our mum cat did.

Thank you for the advice everyone. We made a box for her with towels inside to put behind the bath as it's her favourite hiding place but she seems to have chosen under my dressing table as her place of choice, she dragged a muslin cloth there and is asleep on it! so I'll let her stay there as it is the quietest room in the house. It's just a matter of waiting now.

Quietest room in the house? That’s probably why she chose it! 😂

Please post photos of your grandkitties when they arrive.

Don't forget photos when they arrive.

When I was about 7 I came home from school, couldn't find the cat but saw a bump under my duvet. There was the cat, I picked her up to find 4 kittens underneath.
