How long realistically do I need to leave this on my poor kitty for? He's just been castrated today they don't stitch apparently just leave it open Shock so no risk of pulling out stitches but appreciate he may lick himself.

He's utterly fed up and it's heart wrenching to watch 😩

Haribo didn't need a cone, apparently he didn't have stitches but he was more bonkers than normal and didn't behave according to the after op care sheet.

This is interesting...I wonder if it's precautionary I'm making sure his litter is spotless etc so would there be much risk in removing if he has no stitches?

After having to be starved for the op he was more interested in stuffing his face that trying to work out where his pom poms had gone. That was before whizzing around the room. He's never whizzed since.

Perhaps he doesn't need it. Take it off him and see what he does.

My 2 cats didn't have collars after being neutered. Not sure they are needed

And the incision is small so doesn't need stitches. Mine didn't get stitches either

When Spongecat was overgrooming, I put a small adapted babygrow on her to stop it. It seemed to help, and she didn't need it very long. Didn't bother her either. Might something like this help? I think you can get an official version for about 3 times the price.

Neither my girl cat or boy cat had a collar after being neutered. As long as they aren't licking or worrying at the wound excessively they should be ok without anything, especially if you're around to keep an eye on them, but now they've experienced a collar it could prove harder to get it on again if they do need it, so bear that in mind.

As for the "whizzing", it seems a minority of cats do seem to have this response to some anaesthetics and I really think they should warn people as it's a bit disconcerting after being told they "may be more sleepy for a while" to take your cat home and find they're the exact opposite and bouncing off the walls Smile

It’s the ketamine, sends them loopy but usually when their pupils go back to normal their over it.

Mine only had their collars on long enough to get amusing videos (they were trying to wash their back legs and kept falling over like they were drunk Grin) They seemed less drunk and wobbly without a collar on.

🤣 he's done this all day too, the walking backwards and pulling his legs off the floor to walk had me half crying half laughing!

Ok given the posts here I've decided to take off, he's finally settled (hasn't napped all day) hopefully I've made the right decision!
