Rescue kittens - help to find

Hello!

The week before Christmas we lost our 19 year old Moggie. I'd had her from a kitten and she saw me through many a life change!

We have two DC. They of course want kittens. I'd be happy with a rescue cat but all the shelter ones say no children. We want 2.

So rescue kittens it is. Siblings. Where should I look or register?

Thank you

How old are your children? Rescues will rehome to families with kids but it's generally done on a cat by cat/family by family basis as some cats and kittens don't like kids.
Would you consider older kittens/young adults so under a year? They are bigger and personalities are more formed so more predictable. Yet still playful. These will be this years kittens from peak kitten season.
Our lad was under a year when we adopted him, possibly around 9 months old. That was mid January.

Forgot to add there is a website called Cat chat which will list all rescues in your area.

Thank you! Yes I'd definitely consider a young cat (I wanted to rehome those in their twilight years but DH pointed out that a 6 and 3 year old might not cope). I will check it out! Smile

I wish you lived near me. It seems like somebody has come and dumped a load of cats here, including 2 young ones😔

Give me a clue @Want2beme

Yes, all the rescues are listed here by area: www.catchat.org

There has been a huge increase in people wanting to adopt cats this year (we are now getting around 150 enquiries a week, and have been since March - last year we would have been lucky to get half that number a month - so an eight fold increase?), so all rescues are a bit overwhelmed. Also of course there is a kitten season - from March to late Summer. So there won't be many kittens around until April-ish, when there will suddenly be thousands.

And a three year old is probably too young to have small kittens safely. Small children can and do harm kittens, and small kittens are fragile and defenceless. You would be better off with a young adult (or a pair) that have been assessed to be calm and generally bomb-proof.

Good advice. Thank you
