Cat killed on Christmas day

My cat was hit by a car today, close to home, while I was cooking christmas lunch. Am absolutely gutted, for myself, but mostly for my children. What a horrible end to a tricky year !

I'm so sorry. I've been upset about getting the message to self-isolate during Christmas dinner, but this is definitely worse Sad.

@CausingChaos2 that's my worry now too, that every christmas will be tainted with the memory. Also people will be asking for weeks 'did you have a nice Christmas? ' etc.

I'm so sorry OP, horrible any time but especially cruel to happen at Christmas.

Our beloved young boy cat was killed on our road in August and I have missed him so much over Christmas. I keep remembering how much he enjoyed his advent calendar last year Sad

How awful Sad could you try to manage the sadness in future years do you think? Make it a day when you remember how lovely the cat was rather than the tragedy? Get a picture of the cat and turn it into an ornament for the tree? Positive memories to help deal with the sad ones?

They leave a big hole when they go ...

Big hugs, never a good time to loose a fur baby (or anyone) but Christmas day does top it. Hope you and the kids are doing ok.

Will definitely try to make it a happy day to remember her next year. And her last memory was hopefully being surrounded by us at breakfast that morning. The children are being very brave and everyone keeps telling me to hold on to how much she was loved in the time we had her. We put such pressure on ourselves to make christmas magical for our children but some things are totally out of our control (but I would make a deal with the devil to rewind yesterday and make things turn out differently). We have a young dog who will hopefully mend our hearts a little.
