Tiny slightly crusty feeling non itchy bumps on 4 month kitten ...

He's not bothered by them one jot. I've found 5 altogether. The largest is where his ear meets his head and is about as bit as .... erm, a grain of rice?! It feels like a scab you could pick off, but we haven't obvs. Then he has 3/4 smaller ones randomly on his back. He has very thick fur, and you have to sort of rootle through with your fingers looking for them (which is what i've just been doing - he loved it!)

They feel sharp and raised and near the surface rather than flat and under skin if that makes sense.

We have an older cat who doesn't like the kitten but although she's swiped at him a couple of times there was no actual blood and she doesn't use claws. (they are both rag dolls)

His coat is very white so once you actually get down through the substantial thickness of as far as the skin it's easy to see any weeping or blood. There might be the teeniest bit of weeping, but no blood.

Anyone got any ideas?
He's going for the snip on Monday so i will ask the vet then. In the mean time i'm a bit concerned for him.

Sounds very like a flea allergy reaction?

Laiste · 18/12/2020 15:14

Thank you. I would agree! However both cats are indoor cats and neither are scratching. The rare occasions my older one (10) has had a flea (hottest summers) she scratches like mad and it's so obvious. Can't see any flea dirt either.

Allergy to a household cleaning product?

Laiste · 18/12/2020 19:51

Gosh i hope not. Wouldn't know where to start with that one !

Well i've treated both cats with a spot treatment. I'll ask the vet on Monday, but having googles cat's bumps/spots i've seen nothing really like what he's got. There's no redness or pattern to them ...

I'll update when i've been in case it's any use to anyone in the future.

flea allergy, pretty sure as we have a cat with this -

I've never seen a flea on her but when we started to use the flea treatment regularly her skin cleared up. When they are allergic it only needs one or two fleas to cause the reaction.
