Just wanted some help and advice really, if anyone has experience of this disease FIP? My kitten has suspected FIP and we are devastated. The vets have said it’s impossible to test for it but I am getting conflicting info on internet so just wondered if anyone could help? Any vets on here?

There is medication available but it's very expensive. It does work if you catch it soon enough, I believe.

Have you spoken to your vet about treatment @Ljrd?

Hi they told me it was very expensive but I’ve got to wait until Monday for a referral to a vet that can help. I have insurance but most of the amount I’m allowed has already been spent on tests for him. His tummy is so big with fluid so I don’t know if it’s too late for him but this has all happened in the last few days and he can’t even walk anymore. Do you think it would be covered by insurance?

Thankyou for your reply x

It should be covered by insurance as it's not something you can vaccinate against, but the tablets are very expensive - I think almost £100 each and they need several tablets a day for a good few months. If you're almost at your insurance limit then I'm not sure what your options might be - credit card perhaps? But ultimately it may be kinder to PTS.

I'm so sorry you got this diagnosis :(

Thankyou for letting me know, it’s so hard to come to terms with :-(

It is completely curable but you have to act fast, every hour/day counts. We claimed from Petplan who paid up. There are distributors here in uk. When we cured our kitten of Wet Fip 2.5 years ago, the drug was called Mutian but it is also known as Remdesvier.

Please google uk suppliers and get this drug into your cat as soon as you can.
