Things you didn't know about cats until you got one....

This is just for fun and might be interesting or useful.

I'll start - I didn't know cats played fetch. My beautiful blonde cat plays with a rubber orange bullet and brings it and drops it waiting for me to throw it. This can be a long game....

What have you learnt?

That they are so much nicer than dogs.

“Charlie would turn his back on you but sit in front of you to sulk.”

It’s very important to them that you know their sulking. Otherwise there is no point to the sulk.

We stayed out late once (nearly midnight) 3 hours after his curfew & the cat was right at the bottom of the garden on the fence ignoring my calls, back to me with flat cap ears. In the end I had to hiss “I know you can hear me you need to get your bottom inside now” and he turned around to silently come inside to a hero’s welcome.

DCat sulks. This involves stomping upstairs to the spare room, banging around for a bit then silence, before coming downstairs an hour later for a snuggle. It's a bit like having a teenager, except she's not (yet?) mastered slamming the door.

One of my Dcats growing up was an absolute champion sulker. Back turned, shoulders hunched, full on ignoring us treatment if we had offended.

Charlie was once sulking at me. A friend picked him up and turned him to face me. Charlie turned his head away. So my friend turned Charlie's head, he actually swivelled his eye away.

Obviously we laughed and that led to an even bigger sulk, this time at both of us.
