Fleas???

Our cat is treated monthly with Broadline but noticed him scratching a bit this week. I've just groomed him and found lots of black deposits in his fur, nothing moving or jumping though.

I read online to spray the deposits with water and that if they go red brown it is likely a sign of fleas. These did just that. Help?!?!

Broadline has the same flea ingredient as frontline and in some places doesn't work any more. Might need to try a product that doesn't use fipronil.

Advantage can be bought over the counter or try a different product from your vet

Thanks, over the counter as in I just go to the vet and ask for it? We have a monthly plan so would hope the vet can try something else.

I've just ordered indorex- will one can do a four bed house?

Over the counter as in you can buy from the likes of pets at home
If you have a vet plan then ask them for an alternative

Advocat is also very good, but prescription I think.

I use Stronghold from the vets, and it works well.

Clarich007 · 18/11/2020 09:07

Bravecto from the vet is good too and it works

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 18/11/2020 09:41

Frontline/Broadline stopped working here years ago.

I used to use Advocate but moved vets and current lot recommend Stonghold Plus. Both worked well for us - but our cats seem to react more to Advocate when you apply it.

Indorex is brilliant - but we typically use about two or three cans in our four bed house and if you have a major infestation then you may need to apply twice.

I just called the vet, seems we aren't the only people with a flea problem!

Do I treat the whole house then? Even rooms he doesn't go in much?

Indorex is the best!! We tried everything and it killed them quickly and kept them away for 12 months.

I used 1 1/2 cans on my three bed house and I sprayed LOADS

We started getting bitten again a few days after the 12 months was up! I ordered some more and we haven't been bitten since.

Great thanks everyone, off to vet in the morning and indorex arrives tomorrow too. We've not been bitten yet but cats scratching is relentless, poor boy.
