Can you recommend a better flea treatment than frontline plus?

It just doesn't seem to do the job! I'm getting so frustrated with finding fleas on my cats.
What works for you?

Stronghold, prescribed by the vet.

But mine had ear mites as well as fleas, and Stronghold is the only one that works for mites, or so I was told.

Frontline most fleas are now immune, I believe, although it did seem to work in my previous cats.

Over the counter - Advantage
Or get it from the vet. I use stronghold plus on my cats (from the vet)

blubberball · 16/11/2020 12:50

Another one using Stronghold from the vets. It seems pretty good.

Clarich007 · 16/11/2020 13:37

We use Bravecto from the vets and I've never seen a flea on him, he doesnt scratch, so it seems to work

Scbchl · 16/11/2020 13:39

Advantage and rip flea spray for the house. Its 30 from vet and 10 online.

thecatneuterer · 16/11/2020 13:43

Advantage

BeaMends · 16/11/2020 13:46

Our vet told us that in some areas, fleas have developed a resistance to Frontline, and our cat has Advocate I think - DH has taken her to the vet the last few times.

Murinae · 16/11/2020 13:50

Advantage

OverThinkingUnderDoing · 16/11/2020 13:53

The only thing that got rid of fleas from my cat was a Soresto collar. Everything else seemed really ineffective and I’d still be spotting love fleas on him the day after treatment.

LutherRalph1 · 16/11/2020 13:54

Prinivox

Fozzleyplum · 16/11/2020 14:34

I get Broadline on prescription from the vet's. It's one syringeful onto the back of the neck for each cat per month and it prevents worms and fleas. We have found it very effective although it is quite expensive.

Autumnflakes · 16/11/2020 14:47

@Fozzleyplum if you don’t mind me asking - how much is expensive?

Fozzleyplum · 16/11/2020 14:54

You can buy the Broadline for about £34 for 6 months' worth of treatment per cat. However you do need a prescription and the price I pay is tied up in a general petcare plan where I have each cat checked over every year same time as the vet prescribes the Broadline.

dementedpixie · 16/11/2020 14:57

Broadline has the same flea treatment as Frontline. It just also treats some worms as well

Murinae · 16/11/2020 18:54

Broadline is rubbish. My cats still had fleas after using it every month. Changed to advantage now and the problem has gone

mintich · 16/11/2020 22:06

Thanks! I've ordered some Advantage so will see how it goes. If no improvement, I'll move onto prescription treatments

My vet prescribes Advocate but it's not working as well as it used to. Bummer.

Don't forget to spray the whole bloody house as well, and wash everything, over and over, possibly forever

Toddlerteaplease · 17/11/2020 15:15

Advocate from the vets

Holothane · 17/11/2020 15:22

To be honest when we had our two cats we eventually had stuff direct from the vet the frontline stuff just wasn’t working any more.

dementedpixie · 17/11/2020 15:24

Fipronil is whats in frontline and broadline

SoupDragon · 17/11/2020 15:27

Mine are on Stronghold Plus I think.

star1459 · 17/11/2020 15:28

Another for advantage

TabbyStar · 17/11/2020 15:29

Another vote for Bravecto, only thing that has worked for us.
