House plants vs cats

We had to move/get rid of all our house plants when we got our two little boys (now 5.5 months) as they are/attacked them. We had a monstera too which I read was toxic for them so that went. They even made a new line for little pots of aloe vera. They would clamber up things I didn’t even know were possible to climb just to dig/sniff/eat/maul our plants!

But I really miss some greenery around and would like to get some more.

Is there a way to deter the cats? Or certain plans that they won’t go near? Or do I just have to kiss goodbye to my indoor plant life until they kitties are older and lazier??

Kiss goodbye to plants until they are a lot older/more sedate. It is possible but expect to find plants eaten, dug up, 💩 on, and knocked over. Vases of flowers have always ended up knocked over too.
You can go very 1970s with bottle gardens and macrame indoor hanging baskets.
I would just wait a few years. - so much easier. Enjoy your garden and hanging baskets instead.

I suppose you could get some artificial plants to give the feeling of having plants inside

I've got a spider plant and a Boston fern (both non-toxic to cats). The fern is in the bathroom and neither cat has ever paid much attention to it. The spider plant in the living room, however, did attract a lot of attention when they were kittens. It nevertheless survived and is now also ignored. The kitten phase doesn't last long. I'm sure you'll be able to introduce some plants again soon.

Unless they are unreachable, they will just knock the pots over and dig in the soil until they are older and more sensible.

Even then, one of mine still likes to have a nibble on random plants.

Are they going outside yet? It does help to burn off energy but they are hopeless until about 2 years old at least.

No plants here. We don't have a Christmas tree either.

We got our cats at a year old and apart from peeing in the soil of one large plant (which I stopped by covering it in twigs) they've never paid any attention to them. I have an umbrella tree, a money plant and a maranta.
