Help - greedy 22 week old kitten!

Our kitten is always pestering for food and sometimes can get a bit tetchy if not fed on demand. I've checked with guidance and we are feeding him the correct amount (definitely not depriving him) and he looks to be about the right weight - though I don't think he should be any heavier (he weighs 6 and a quarter pounds).
Currently he gets 60g dry food and 1 sachet 85g wet food. I've seen advice where it's suggested that as wet food has a better "fullness" factor, so am thinking of moving to 40g dry and 2 sachets daily instead. Has anyone similar experiences / any advice for me please?
I had hoped he would want to be out and about more exploring all the exciting world outside the catflap, but he has slowed down since being neuteured and I'm hoping he won't grow into a lazy, greedy adult cat!

Today we tried an experiment. We've set up the daily food allowance and have decided to give Greedy Kitten a little bit here and there, strictly 'on demand'. At 4pm so far so good, but just after feeding him a few morsels half an hour ago, he is whingeing again.

I picked him up to cuddle him and was quite shocked - he really went for my hand, trying to bit down hard (one angry / frustrated / hungry kitten?) Oh dear ...

I just bung some dry food in the bowls and they come back and forth all day (and night) as my cats like to graze. I share a pouch between them twice a day with the odd extra small pouch/soup at lunchtime. They also like chopped chicken if any is going spare

My cats ate a lot more as kittens btw. They eat less now than they used to and i let them regulate themselves

Feed him! He’s hungry. Guidelines on packets are just that - guides, not rules that must be obeyed at all costs.

Crikey, I also have kittens of similar age and I just feed them as much as they want! They seem to self regulate, eating more some days than others. They average at around 4 sachets a day between the two.

Sounds like yours are hungry!

Your kitten looks lovely. We have a similar guy, he's 6 months and weighs 3.11kg. He just had a vet check. We were using Felix which he wolved down but discovered the Zooplus site. It has a wider variety of kitten wet and dry food. The higher protein food must be more filling - Carny and Bozita wet - each tub can sometimes last 2 days when used with dry food.

Mine have a pouch each at breakfast and tea, and either a pouch or half a pouch at lunch (I try to give them half as get said they were getting fat. They also have dry food out all day.

I don't think that's particularly unusual from a kitten who doesn't want or wasn't expecting to be picked up, mind. You'll learn to read to his mood after a while and he'll learn that just a little wriggle is enough to be put down.
Have you tried an extra pouch like you were considering at the beginning? I think the wet food you're feeding might have a higher meat content than the dry, so could be worth a try. Or maybe supplement the kitten food with some cooked chicken or fish, just to see if he's a bit happier when he's getting more protein. Different foods have different compositions so it's worth trying different types and brands to.see if he's more content and less grumpy, just make sure any new foods are introduced gradually.
