It's rained A LOT recently. Lyra is so proud of herself every time she brings me one, but I don't want her wandering around the house with the things.

One of mine used to do that, then she'd watch where you put them in the garden and go and fetch them in again. Could be worse I suppose.

aww...need a picture

Ah blessGrin Dcat3 went through a phase last year of bringing me cockroaches, she'd thoughtfully lay them out in a neat row on my balcony Confused

One of my cats used to bring in worms when she first started hunting, dropped them in our shoes which was lovely. Then she progressed to leaving me a dead mouse in my shoe, not sure which was worse ...

stella1know · 30/10/2020 11:49

She must really love you and is bringing you presents. Please appreciate them.

Oldraver · 30/10/2020 22:43

DS said his cat has started doing this. Bringing them through the catflap

At least its not mice and voles anymore

emmacat · 30/10/2020 22:46

I'm so grateful I get leaves...

Ginnymweasley · 30/10/2020 22:51

My cat brings dead leaves.... and seems so proud of himself.... he's an idiot.

tootyfruitypickle · 31/10/2020 08:30

Mine did that as stage one .... (be warned!). The funniest stage was the mini frog stage . They were entirely unharmed, hopping around in their droves in my house!!

maggiethecat · 31/10/2020 08:54

stella1know - I reckon my new cat loves me a lot. Is that what I have to look forward to when we start letting her out Hmm

Oh Lyra brought in a live duckling over the summer (of course none of the animal rescue places was open). Luckily we were able to persuade the vet to take it off or hands. I have concluded that she must have been a gun dog in a previous existence.

Here is the promised photo. Yes, she and her brother are far too heavy for the clothes airer (and they do indeed have their own "shelf", sat on an old boiler suit).

Pan (her brother) favours killing birds to throw around the garden, but I think he has realised that he'll soon have them confiscated if they get anywhere near the kitchen door.

@maggiethecat my kittens used to drag in live pigeons, but as they got older It was just bitter-tasting shrews and the odd sick bird. I once had a dead bat, a dead mole, a beautiful rat, and a foetal baby squirrel my Boy had carried home softly and placed in my hands to look after. Not a nick or mark on him, the softest care. It didnt survive despite warmth and milk but I couldn't get to an expert on time and regret that 🙁
My cats have gone now and these are just beautiful memories ❤️ And now we have a mouse-problem in the house.

Earthworms? That's marvellous compared to the absurd and/or terrifying range of 'things' that I get given!

Thankfully the underwear stage is over (nobody wants a house full of strangers' socks/knickers/bras), but sadly the snake stage still continues (both live and dead) as does the (live) mouse/vole/shrew/mole stage. The toad stage was bizarre - they were always live, just the wriggly back legs were poking out of Dcat's mouth - which was foaming from the toxins on the back of the toad Hmm

Earthworms are definitely what I'd prefer!
