I have a lovely 5 month old old kitty, but she's a bit on the destructive side. She chews cables, knocks off photo frames, plants, ornaments, scratches the sofa etc. She has lots of toys, a scratching post and gets a lot of time with me and the children. The latest is her jumping up on the cooker and im so worried she'll do it whilst the hob is still hot. She jumps up when the kids are eating dinner and tries to steal their food. She's well fed and cared for, but if I try and shut her out the kitchen she will howel and scratch the door. I'm having the same issue at night as she won't sleep in the kitchen, but I don't want her in with me as i'm such a light sleeper. Can anyone recommend a comfy pet bed and also any other solutions. I've had cats all my life and even a couple of litters, but she is by far the most demanding and dog like of them all. She's also the most affectionate and sweet thing when she's not destroying the house. I honestly think my kids were easier as toddlers haha

Get her a companion. She’s a cat doing what cats do at that age!

We have one of these. She grew out of the stealing food as people were eating it. The house had to be kitten proofed which was more effort than baby proofing. A dog crate is useful for when your desperate. Good luck they do grow out of it.

We did want two kittens, but with the cost and space I don't think another kitten is an option and she does have two children to play with her.

We have the same. My kitten actually jumped up on the table, knocked a piece of cheese out of my toddlers hand and are it yesterday, all before we could intervene.

My noisy, destructive, extremely attention seeking cat calmed right down when she got a companion. Led to a fair few months of fighting which was horrible but now they are both much calmer. Feline company is different to what they’ll get from the kids.

I’m sorry no advice, just 😍

She’s gorgeous though. I’d let her do what she likes in case she bins you off for a more liberal family.

I have just been painting up our stair bannisters which my horror has scratched. The landing and stairs carpet will have to be replaced next yr as shes pulled it off the nails/ plate thing and its frayed

Haribo was very food orientated at that age. He was 1 year old in June and now sits on the windowsill when we are eating licking his lips in anticipation.

Is your street fairly quiet? When my cat was younger she liked to be taken for a "walk" - about 10 pm when there wasn't anyone else around - this was me strolling while she zoomed from tree to gateway, down to the end of the cul de sac, then raced back all the way home. She needed to run I think and inside just wasn't big enough.

I have a fully puppy pen for meal for bedtimes for my 8 week old sphinx boy. He cries for a couple of mins then settles down.

I'm starting to teach him table manners when it's just me around by gently scuffing and placing him off my knee and onto the floor whenever he tries to go onto the dining table or pokes his nose onto the plate. He managed to sit through dinner today with only one removal so we're getting somewhere. You could also tray a water spray if she doesn't get the message.

Lidded Igloo beds from amazon or eBay are great especially with a snugglesafe heat pad for added warmth. My needy cherub is attached to my body almost constantly atm😂

Mine also chews cables, again gentle scuff and redirect onto a toy.

First post should read fully enclosed puppy penGrin
