Morning all 💕
My beautiful girls are nearly 5 months old - they have eaten the same food since we got them (3 pouches each a day) breakfast lunch and dinner with the odd pouch of whiskers thrown in .
Then 4 days ago they have completely changed their eating habits - they have totally gone off original food - I have tried 2 other wet food and offered 2 different dry varieties. They are grazing occasionally.Spoke to the vet yesterday and he said see how they go with dinner (had cat Pate coming with the food shop that they usually woof back) and see how I feel in the morning . Well they didn't woof it back - they've had a bit of whiskers and a few mouthfuls of dry . They are running about playing and jumping around happy and unaffected. What's going on ?? It's strange that it's both of them Xxx

It's because cats are fickle wee bastards! Mine always graze and I leave dry food down all the time and give wet food a few times a day. I give ½ a pouch each at each wet meal.
Maybe they are just eating less now they are a bit older. Have they been spayed yet?

No they are booked in week after next

My littlest is 6 months and has always been a grazer. I put down half a tray of pate type food twice a day and it takes her hours to eat it as she goes and takes a few mouthfuls at a time. She also has applaws dried down all the time which she grazes on. I do worry sometimes that she isn't eating enough but she has tons of energy and is always charging around! I think some cats just eat this way!

I've got them an appt 2:30 to put my mind at ease x

Definitely best to be sure if you’ve noticed a change in their behaviour.

I have stand offs with mine when he goes through fussy phases. First one to crack :) One thing I have noticed is that he may turn up his nose at something during the day and refuse to eat it...if I leave it in the bowl it is usually gone during the night.
My older kitten is a grazer and always has been, in fact she seems to have little interest in food generally. However there is always dried food on offer for both all day.
Oddly the kitten would never eat kitten food so I tried her on a bit of tinned Whiskers I had in. She will not eat anything else now and never attempts to eat anything from my other cats bowl which is normally Felix. Cats are strange creatures.

One of mine has a preference for wet, the other looks at you like you've crapped in his bowl sometimes Grin. I leave dry out and give wet a few times a day and they come back and forth to the bowls all day (and night). A full pouch is too much for mine at a time (and they are 3 years old) so they get a pouch between them. Probably â…” to â…“ as one prefers wet

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/10/2020 11:30

I read this isn’t fussiness it’s evolutionary to encourage a wide range of foods Confused

Bargebill19 · 24/10/2020 11:32

Coming into season possibly. If so it does change their behaviour quite dramatically for about a week.

beachbodhi · 24/10/2020 17:18

Vet said they're absolutely fine and healthy (and so gorgeous) it's to do with them not growing as rapidly as they were so it makes sense they wouldn't eat so much

Still stressing as they've eaten bugger all today 😫😫😫

Are they eating less or nothing at all?
What are you offering them?

Bargebill19 · 25/10/2020 18:10

They will. The vet has given them a clean bill of health. They are now just messing with your head and ensuring you will be their slave forever.

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/10/2020 18:16

If you can get a rotisserie chicken try them on that, it’s meant to be universally appealing to cats.

Mind you I thought that about chicken livers and our departed Bengal thought it was actual cat poison. The Persians used to go mad for them.

beachbodhi · 25/10/2020 21:04

Thanks for the replies . Theyve just has a few mouthfuls of dry food -go cat. I have offered their normal food / whiskers / felix
