Do they miss her?

One of my cats is in the pet hospital and my other two cats are being so so loud.
They keep meowing at me and are being very clingy, one of them keeps herding me around the house shouting.

They've never been close with each other, don't hug or groom each other, but is it possible they miss her?

Or am I just massively projecting because I do?

They are definitely being louder and needing more attention than usual though.

Yes, even if they aren’t close somethings happened and they don’t know what it’s all about.

For all they know their next to vanish.

IHaveBrilloHair · 17/10/2020 22:10

Yes, they will.
Mine did this when one of ours died, even the one who doesn't like the others.

This is exactly how they're acting.

My tabby girl cat is acting like she's trying to get me to look for the one that's missing. It's like she's saying 'for goodness sake Mam how can you just sit there when we don't know where she is???'

Were they extra cuddly too?

My big cat was very disappointed when I bought the little one back after a vet stay Grin

Yes, @Snoringferret
Very cuddly, and one of them isn't cuddly, not the same one who didn't like the cat who died either!
They definitely notice a change in their surroundings.
They all just wanted me.

One of ours was positively delighted when her mum and brother passed away. There was a definite spring in her step after that.

When lockdown first started one of my cats suddenly died and another got lost. One of my cats was close to them both and he became very clingy and developed cystitis through the stress, leading to a blocked bladder. We nearly lost him too and he needed many vet visits and a say which stressed him even more.I

Luckily we managed to get the missing cat back after over four months and he seems much happier now.

Snoringferret · 18/10/2020 09:47

That must have been so awful for you bodge
How are they doing now? Did you find out where he'd gone?

It was a pretty horrendous time, our dog had to be pts and elderly mum broke her hip, all in the space of two weeks on top of the cats!

We haven't a clue where he'd been, but after four and a half months we caught a glimpse of him on a wildlife camera we'd put out with food and managed to trap him after about four days of him coming. He is an ex feral house cat so not straightforwards to get back.

We also trapped another semi feral young cat who had been visiting for months that nobody claimed, who is now neutered and chipped and settled in well, so one positive at least!

They are all doing really well now, thanks for asking!

They'll might also be picking up on your feelings of worry too, not as aloof as they sometimes crack on our furry overlords. Try and pretend all is normal and you might find they settle down a bit.
